✨ Meet Nkechinyere (NK) Josephs, Our New Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT)! ✨
We are so excited to welcome Nkechinyere Josephs, RCT, to our team! NK brings over seven years of experience in mental health, addictions, and community support, with work spanning hospitals, clinics, and private practice in both Canada and Nigeria.
Originally from Nigeria, she brings a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to her practice, helping clients from diverse backgrounds feel truly supported. NK completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, a Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders (Mental Health and Addictions) from Mohawk College, and also earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Windsor University School of Medicine in St. Kitts and Nevis. Her medical training adds a unique depth to her counselling, integrating a holistic understanding of health and wellbeing.
She provides individual, couples, and family counselling, with a focus on:
- Anxiety & depression
- Trauma & addictions
- Concurrent disorders
- Family conflict & divorce/separation support
Her trauma-informed, integrative approach draws from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, always grounded in a strengths-based and culturally responsive lens.
NK is a registered member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT).
Outside of her clinical work, NK loves experimenting in the kitchen, singing her favorite songs, and cozy movie nights with friends and family.
