✨ Meet Julie — the heart behind Changing Tides Therapy. 💙
Julie isn’t just a therapist; she’s someone who deeply understands what it means to rebuild after loss, pain, and change. Through her own journey of grief, she learned something powerful that healing isn’t linear, but it’s always possible.
At Changing Tides Therapy, she helps people navigate life’s shifting seasons with compassion and honesty. Whether it’s grief, anxiety, relationship struggles, or starting over, Julie meets each client where they are never rushing the process, always holding space with empathy and warmth.
When I photographed Julie, we didn’t just stick to one spot. We chose four meaningful locations that each represented a piece of her journey.
We began at for clean, modern headshots and working portraits—an anchor for her professional presence.
From there, we stopped at Bread and Roses, a cozy bakery from her old neighborhood that brought a personal, nostalgic touch to her brand story.
Downtown Ottawa gave us the energy and environment of where she’s rooted her business.
We ended at Lac Meech because Julie learned from the loss of her big sister, that grief is like a wave—which her practice, Changing Tides Therapy, is named after. You can learn more about this on the second episode of Julie’s podcast, The Big Sister Podcast. Photographing her in the water wasn’t just creative; it was symbolic.
And the bakery? That wasn’t just a cozy backdrop. It’s where Julie would often stop before walking her grief out by the river. A quiet ritual of comfort and movement that helped her process so much of what she later built into her practice.
Every location told a part of her story—past and present, personal and professional—woven together through intention, memory, and meaning.
