As Black History Month comes to a close, our commitment does not.
This month has been a time to celebrate Black excellence and reflect on the histories and realities that continue to shape our communities. In developmental services, we recognize that Black individuals and families have faced, and still face, systemic barriers that affect access to services, quality of care, and trust in support systems.
Moving forward, our work is rooted in action. That means acknowledging the intersection of race and disability, challenging inequities, and strengthening culturally responsive, inclusive supports.
Black History Month may end, but our responsibility to listen, learn, and build spaces where Black families experience genuine belonging, equity, and opportunity continues โ every day of the year.
