A question we often hear is, what if I don’t know what to talk about in therapy? 🤔

Many people come into their first session feeling unsure where to begin, or wondering if they’ll say the “right” thing.

There isn’t a perfect place to start.

Therapy is a space where things don’t have to be fully organized or figured out. 🌿

You can take your time, explore at your own pace, and gradually make sense of what feels unclear.

Even saying “I’m not sure where to start” is enough. 💛

Thinking about the same thing over and over,
but still putting it off. 😅

Sometimes your mind keeps circling something, while another part of you is trying to avoid the pressure of dealing with it.

You don’t have to sort through that on your own. 💛

Conversations with children don’t always start the way we expect. 💬

Sometimes they build gradually through small, everyday moments.

With the shift in routine during March Break, there can be more space for those moments to happen.

Sometimes it isn’t about finding the “right” question, but creating space where they feel comfortable sharing at their own pace.

Small moments often matter more than big talks. A walk, a car ride, or time spent doing something together can make it easier for children to open up.

What matters most is not having the perfect response, but listening with curiosity and patience. 💛

During March Break, families often find a little more time together.

Creative activities like drawing, storytelling, music, or writing can give children different ways to express thoughts and experiences. ✨

These small moments can sometimes open the door to meaningful conversations.

Starting or growing a private practice can already bring a lot of responsibility. Adding early parenthood into that mix can affect how time, energy, and expectations are experienced, as priorities begin to shift day to day. 🤍🌿

In this episode, we explore what it can look like to navigate both, including setting capacity limits, adjusting through unexpected moments, and making space for family while continuing to show up in your work. 🤲🏽💭

Overthinking can sometimes begin with good intentions. 💭

The mind often tries to stay one step ahead, reviewing possibilities and trying to prevent mistakes. Over time, this can turn into thoughts that revisit the same question without creating much clarity. 🧠🔄

During periods of pressure or uncertainty, people may find themselves searching for reassurance or a perfect answer, which can make it harder to step back and see situations more clearly.

Sometimes the first step is noticing when your thoughts have started circling the same place. That small moment of awareness can create a little distance from the loop.

Even a brief pause in that cycle can create space for clearer thinking. 💛

Beginning therapy often unfolds gradually. 🌱

Early sessions may focus on understanding what brought you in, asking questions, and learning what the therapy process can look like.

As trust develops, conversations may begin to explore experiences, patterns, and emotions in greater depth. Therapy is designed to create a sense of safety over time, allowing conversations to move at a pace that feels manageable.

You're not expected to share everything right away. The conversation can unfold at the pace that feels right for you.

If you have questions about starting therapy, you’re welcome to reach out. 📩💛

Adulthood often involves subtle identity shifts. 🔄

Roles that once felt defining may no longer fit the same way.

Beliefs about success, responsibility, or relationships can begin to change.

Growth in one area often reshapes others.

Transitions can feel unfamiliar, but they are also part of development.

You are allowed to evolve. 💛🌿

Transitions often shape both our personal and professional lives. For therapists, this can sometimes include navigating early parenthood while running a private practice.

In Episode 160: Navigating Private Practice & Being a New Mom, the conversation reflects on what it can look like to balance the responsibilities of private practice while adjusting to early parenthood.

Shifts in routine, energy, and priorities can influence how therapists approach their work, their time, and the expectations they place on themselves.

🎙️ Episode 160 will be available Tuesday, March 17 on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Black Mental Health Week invites space for important conversations about wellbeing, access, and support. 🗣️

For many Black entrepreneurs, work can carry additional layers of responsibility. There may be pressure to succeed, represent, provide for family, and navigate environments where understanding is not always guaranteed.

Support matters most in spaces where people do not feel they must explain every part of their experience before being understood.

As Black Mental Health Week comes to a close, we also want to highlight a community resource that may support individuals looking for space to talk and reflect. 🌿

Through a collaboration with and , free therapy sessions are available through Winrose Oasis Counselling.
