Is your footwear working for or against you?
Sometimes a simple footwear change can make a monumental difference when it comes to pain, performance or just getting through a long day on your feet. This change can be a powerful intervention that is often the first step before progressing to custom foot orthotics.
With all the footwear available on the market today, determining what makes a quality pair can be tough. When shopping for footwear, there are a few key features to look for: stiff heel counter, torsional stability (minimal twist/torsion through the midsole), proper flexion point at the ball of the foot, appropriate heel-to-toe drop, adjustable closure (ie. lacing, velcro, buckles) and a removable insole if orthotics are going to be used in that pair of footwear. We can also help determine if there are other particular features that will meet your specific needs.
This is all a part of a thorough initial assessment to see if your footwear choices helping you achieve your goals. If you want to know more or want to discuss your footwear choices with me, feel free to message me or call to book your appointment today.
