A major milestone for Parkinson’s care has just been published, and we are incredibly proud of the team behind it. 📖✨
The new randomized clinical trial on photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt) for Parkinson’s disease, published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, was led by Principal Investigators Anita Saltmarche and Orla Hares, whose vision and dedication made this research possible. Their leadership helped guide a complex, multi-stage study examining how home-based PBMt combined with exercise can support both motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
We also want to acknowledge the significant contributions of co-authors Brian Bicknell and Ann Liebert, whose expertise in neuroscience, photobiomodulation, and clinical research strengthened every part of this project. 📚
This study represents the largest PBMt clinical trial in Parkinson’s disease to date, showing promising improvements in mobility, anxiety, and daily functioning when therapy is continued long term. It also reinforces the value of combining PBMt with exercise in a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach.
A huge congratulations to the entire team for advancing accessible, evidence-based options for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Your work is shaping the future of care.
