At Modo Yoga Hamilton, our motto is "calm mind, fit body, inspired life". We are more than just hot yoga studios; we are a community of vibrant, awesome people supporting, encouraging and inspiring each other in yoga and in life! We have 2 locations: The first location is at 101 Osler Drive (in University Plaza) in beautiful Dundas and the newest location is at 270 Mud Street (Heritage Hill plaza) on Stoney Creek Mountain. Standing Crescent Moon — where we reach up and gently lean side to side — is a posture we practice in almost every class to warm up the side body.

🌙 Benefits of Standing Crescent Moon:
• Stretches the side body, ribs, shoulders, and spine
• Strengthens the legs, core, and postural muscles
• Improves balance and coordination
• Creates space for deeper breathing by opening the lungs

🔥 Why we do it:
This posture gently wakes up the spine, increases circulation, and starts to build heat in the body without impact. It prepares you for twists, backbends, and stronger standing poses later in class — all while encouraging focus and control.

Each side tells a different story.
Move slowly.
Breathe fully.
Feel the warm-up doing its work.

The Modo sequence is the same in every Modo class — and that’s on purpose.

At first, some people think repetition is boring.
But in yoga, repetition is where the real power lives.

✨ Here’s why we repeat the sequence:
• You stop worrying about what’s coming next and start feeling what’s happening now
• Your body learns the postures, allowing you to go deeper, safer, and stronger over time
• Progress becomes noticeable — strength, balance, flexibility, focus
• The nervous system settles because predictability creates calm and confidence

When the sequence is familiar, the practice becomes less about surviving class…
and more about presence, breath, and awareness.

You’ll see blocks and straps along the wall inside the studio.

🧼 After class:
Please place any used blocks and straps on the cart outside the door, so we can wash them and have them fresh and ready for the next class (and for future you).

For 10 full minutes after every single class, the room is held for Savasana — the final and most powerful posture of the practice.

Savasana is where the physical work meets the mental work.
It allows your nervous system to reset, your body to absorb the benefits of the practice, and your mind to fully settle. This is where the magic integrates. 🧠💛

We encourage you to stay for the entire 10 minutes — even when it feels challenging to be still. That challenge is the practice.

If you do need to leave early, please exit as quietly as possible, so those choosing to remain can rest without disruption.

Lie still.
Breathe.

This simple-looking seated posture is a powerful hip opener — and a staple in our classes for good reason. 💛

• Gently opens the hips, inner thighs & groin
• Lengthens the spine and supports healthy posture
• Helps release stored tension & emotional stress often held in the hips
• Encourages stillness, grounding, and inward focus

🧠 Mind + nervous system benefits:
Practiced with slow, steady breath, Baddha Konasana helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and create a sense of ease and balance — especially after stronger standing postures or heat-building sequences.

Whether you’re folding forward or sitting tall, this pose invites you to slow down, soften, and listen to your body.
