Sore knees aren’t always a knee problem, your quads might be the real source 🤯
When the quad muscles become tight or overworked, they pull extra tension onto the knee joint. That’s when issues like patellar tendonitis, quad tendonitis, or even jumper’s knee can show up.
During treatment, Michael works through all four quad muscles to release that tension and take pressure off the knees, helping you move easier and feel better long-term.
If your knees have been achy lately, this is your sign to get ahead of it 🦵 Your quads might need some attention!

🦵 Knee pain isn’t always about the knee, and that’s the part most people don’t realize.
Tightness, weakness, or limited mobility in the hips, thighs, and calves can overload the knee and make simple tasks uncomfortable.
Here’s how we treat knee pain inside the clinic (and what you can do at home):
1️⃣ Joint mobility: Improve joint mobility so the knee can actually move the way it’s designed to
2️⃣ Muscle release: Release tight muscles that pull on the joints
3️⃣ Strength: Build strength in the glutes, quads, and core to reduce load on the knee
If knee pain is affecting your workouts, walking, or daily life, it’s worth getting it checked.
Let’s get you moving better (and without pain).
👉 Don’t wait for pain to get worse. Book a session and let’s find the real cause together!

😮 Your fascia does a lot more than you think.
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) helps release deep tension in the connective tissue surrounding your muscles, which is the “fascia”, by improving mobility, reducing pain, and helping you move better
Most clients notice a difference after just a few sessions! We tailor your stretch plan around your goals, whether it’s recovery, chronic pain, or staying active pain-free 🏃‍♂️🏋️🏌️‍♀️
👉 Ready to experience it yourself? You can learn more or book your session through our website.

You’ve probably seen those circle marks from cupping, but do you actually know what it does? 🤔
Cupping is a simple yet powerful technique that helps promote healing, increase circulation, and reduce pain, all through gentle suction.
And one of the most common questions we get: does it hurt?
❌ Not at all! You might feel a bit of pressure or tightness, but we always adjust the cups to your comfort level so you get all the benefits, without the discomfort.
👉 Michael now offers cupping therapy here at Ossum Wellness. Why don’t you try it?

Do athletic therapists only treat new injuries? 🤔 Not at all, we treat both acute and chronic conditions!
Here’s the difference:
✅ Acute injuries: something that’s happened recently (within the last week).
✅ Chronic injuries: pain or discomfort that’s been lingering for weeks, months, or even years.
Wondering when it’s time to book in?
❌ When pain isn’t improving (or is getting worse).
❌ When it’s affecting your daily movement.
❌ When it’s waking you up at night.
You don’t have to wait for pain to “get bad enough.” Early treatment helps you recover faster and move better.
📱 Not sure which one applies to you? Send us an email or DM and we will figure it out together.

Should you feel sore after a massage? 🤔
It depends! A few factors come into play: Is your body used to getting regular massages? Did you happen to get a deep tissue massage?
💭 A little post-massage soreness? Totally normal. That’s just your muscles adjusting.
🚫 Sharp pain, swelling, or bruising? Not normal.
If you’re feeling a bit sore, here’s what helps:
1️⃣ Stay hydrated
2️⃣ Gentle movement
3️⃣ Try heat or a warm shower
Every session with us is tailored to your comfort level so you leave feeling your best, not bruised. If soreness lasts more than 2 days, check in with your therapist.
Massage should always support your recovery, not set you back!

Athletic therapy isn’t just rehab, it can also be prehab 💪
If you’ve got a joint surgery coming up, prehab can make all the difference.
Prehab is rehab before surgery. It helps you build strength, improve mobility, and set your body up for a smoother recovery. The stronger and more mobile you are before surgery, the faster and easier your post-op rehab will be.
🗓️ Surgery coming up? Book a session with us and let’s help you get prepared.

🏋️‍♂️ Looking to strengthen and protect your shoulders?
Here are my 3 favourite resistance band exercises for building stability and preventing injury:
1️⃣ Shoulder Flexion
2️⃣ Shoulder Abduction (don’t lift above shoulder height)
3️⃣ Bilateral External Rotation (with optional flexion)
These moves are not only great for rotator cuff tendonitis rehab, but also for injury prevention and overall shoulder health.
👉 Aim for 3 sets of 10–15 reps per side and always move pain-free.
Save this for your next shoulder workout!

Let me introduce myself

My name is Megan and I am a Certified Athletic Therapist and Fascial Stretch Therapist. I am new to Calgary and am starting my own Athletic Therapy practice which will be operating as of November 4, 2019 (location(s) TBD). My previous experience includes working three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, followed by 3+ years in a private clinic. I have gained valuable experience in my career thus far and I am eager to utilize my knowledge and evolving skill set to help the active people of Calgary! My passion is to educate my patients on their injury and create a routine for them consisting of exercises and stretches to help them overcome their pain and to prevent recurrences!

My focus is musculoskeletal injuries i.e. muscles, bones, ligaments and joints. I treat acute and chronic injuries in people of all ages. I have a special interest in golfers, especially to help improve their mobility and their strength to help achieve results on the golf course.

Additionally, I am a Level I Fascial Stretch Therapist. Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is an assisted full body stretching technique done on a massage table. It is great for people with poor flexibility and/or chronic pain issues.

My hobbies include golf, reading and staying active! I hope to reach as many active Calgarians as I can and to provide the best one-on-one care as possible.
