I have thought about the on going military invasions (for lack of a better word) for several days now. I can't seem to shake it.
I spent a lot of time as a child looking into different religions trying to find one that felt 'right' to me. I felt welcomed at any religious ceremony I attended, and each and every one of them preached LOVE not HATE.
On the news clips I have seen, there is just death and destruction. These are for the most part, innocent people - and children who are being mowed down - for what? The innocent people did nothing, yet they are the ones to pay the price.
Who is right and who is wrong? - seems to be the big question of the day.
But, perhaps we are not asking the right question. Perhaps the question should be - how can be come to an understanding, a way to share whatever is being coveted. There has to be some way to settle these disagreements. They all seem to be based along religious lines and I have yet to see a religion that tells its believers to KILL people. I know that it has certainly been interpreted that way - and more people have been killed in the name of religion that any other single event.
There HAS to be another way to settle these disagreements! There has to be a way to find some common ground and some mutual respect for life.
I find it hard to believe in the year 2023, we still allow one group to take over another group by sheer brute force. I thought we outgrew the "Might Makes Right" mentality in the school yards but it seems to be alive and well.
Have we learned nothing?
