Bend is 15 today.

And of course… I’m away. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fifteen years ago I opened the doors in North Bay, Ontario with a lease, a vision, and a lot of nerve. We started as a yoga studio — just mats, music, and belief.

Since then, Bend has lived in different spaces — from North Bay to Dundas to Hamilton — evolving into the hybrid spin, fitness, and yoga studio we are today.

We’ve seen babies become teenagers.
We’ve watched careers launch and people retire.
We’ve held you through breakups, breakthroughs, injuries, comebacks, grief, and growth.

We have been a part of your lives — and you’ve been a part of mine.

15 years of sweat.
15 years of music too loud.
15 years of planks you pretended to love.
15 years of tears in savasana.

No matter the city.
No matter the format.
The heart has stayed the same.

WHY WE LIFT HEAVY

Our members keep messaging me saying the SAME thing:

“I love lifting heavier.”

And I’m not surprised.
Your body responds to load.
Strength feels good.
Confidence feels good.
And yes — looking good feels good too (let’s be real).

But here’s the line that hit me on a podcast the other day:

“If you aren’t lifting heavy… your bones are chalk.”

And unfortunately?
Science agrees.

The LIFTMOR study (2018) took women with LOW bone density and put them on heavy lifting — and their bone density, strength, and balance all went UP.
Injuries? Almost zero.

This isn’t just data for me… it’s personal.
My grandmother fell right before her 62nd birthday, broke her hip, and never came out of the hospital.
That kind of bone loss is preventable — but only if we start NOW.

This is why we lift at my studio.
HIIT. Barre. Strength & Stability. Yoga with Weights. Lift’d.
It’s not about being hardcore.
It’s about muscle, bone density, heart health, balance, mobility…
and feeling GOOD in your own skin.

Strong looks good on you.

🌿 Introducing HEAL — Movement. Massage. Release.

I’m shifting our Wednesday 5:30pm class into something that feels necessary right now — and I’m also weaving it into my Monday 7:30pm Yoga class and Friday 5pm Yoga for Anxiety class.

HEAL is yoga, massage balls, sometimes a bit of Thai work, sometimes functional strength — always tailored to who’s in the room and what your body needs that day.

Tight hips? Shoulder tension? Foot pain?
I’ll build the practice around what you bring in. And even if the focus isn’t your “spot,” the work still matters — it’s prehab. Keeping you strong, mobile, and pain-free before issues ever show up.

We’ve tested this for a few weeks and everyone loves the new format and asked for more.
So here it is. 💚
