Currently, Hamilton is exploring a safety initiative called "Vision Zero," and asking the community for opinions about road safety in Hamilton. Please have your voice heard and help to ensure Hamilton the safest place to raise a child and age successfully.

Many cities around the world have adopted or are considering the Vision Zero approach, a philosophy that is part of Canada's Road Safety Strategy 2025 and the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario Vision.

Vision Zero is an engaging and open program, which embraces the community and supports local prosperity by striving towards a safe, reliable road network. Vision Zero encourages active modes of transportation by addressing road safety for vulnerable road users of all ages and abilities – reducing Hamilton’s contribution to climate change and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

You can find out all about Vision Zero as an international initiative on the City of Hamilton webpage (shortened as it's a long one) https://loom.ly/sLO9YbE

As part of the City of Hamilton's opportunities for 2026 Budget Public Engagement, this afternoon there will be the first of two Special GIC Budget Committee meetings taking place. These delegation opportunities are specifically scheduled for residents to have their voices heard for the ongoing 2026 Budget considerations.

If you're not able to join today's session in person, you can tune in online starting at 3pm at: https://video.isilive.ca/hamilton/council.html or via QR code in image.

Also remember the second of these public engagement delegation opportunities happens Jan 19,2026, from 3:00 PM onward. You still have time to sign up for delegation at that meeting. Signing up to be a delegate is quite simple, but the timing is important. You need to submit a Delegation Request Form to speak to Committee (in this case, respecting the budget):

1/ Requests must be submitted noon the business day before (Friday) for both in-person and virtual delegations.
2/ Pre-recorded submissions must be submitted on the Thursday before.
3/ Written correspondence can also be submitted until noon the business day before (Friday).

This link (or left-side QR code in image) takes you to the City of Hamilton website where you find out more and also begin your delegation request process: https://www.hamilton.ca/city-council/council-committee/council-committee-meetings/request-speak-committee-council

Let your voice be heard!

Thank you to everyone who participated in and gathered to watch the Annual Hamilton Santa Claus Parade - for the second year in Ward 7 Hamilton Mountain!

While the rain made for some soggy floats, it didn’t dampen our spirits!

Join me for some highlights of our view of the parade - we were entry #64. This parade route lined with the beautiful faces of the determined people -and kids - despite the weather, was one of the most touching moments I can remember.

THANK YOU to everyone involved, and watching, who helped Hamilton kick the festive season off with smiles and cheers! Thank you also to Santa Claus & LimeRidge Mall.

As continue to investigate the tragic death of a City of Hamilton crossing guard that happened in Ward 7 yesterday, I extend my deepest condolences and prayers to the family, friends, coworkers, and community members mourning the victim’s loss of life.

City Staff and I are currently investigating ways to make the intersection of Mohawk Road E. and Upper Wentworth Street safer as soon as possible.

Incidents like these are a sobering reminder to be vigilant about your safety and the safety of others when in public spaces, roads, sidewalks, and parking lots. It only takes a second for something to go horribly wrong. Please continue to do all you can to be safe and aware.
