Zito! Hellas! This year Greeks celebrate 195 years of independence from the Ottoman Empire, having gained independence on March 25, 1821, and which lasted until the establishment of the first Greek nation in 1832.

I'm very much looking forward to celebrating the day again this year this coming Sunday March 29th, 2026, at the City Hall Forecourt at 2pm, in the company of the , my colleagues, and everyone (Greek and non-Greek alike) who will be in attendance to mark this special anniversary.

It was so fun to participate!!

I was "freezin' for a reason," this past weekend when my good friend Tim Goodacre, Hamilton Police A/Insp Darren Murphy, and I took the leap hand-in-hand into the 2026 Polar Plunge! While the water was super-cold, my heart was truly warmed by the depth of community commitment and support for this meaningful annual event. The Polar Plunge supports more than 23,000 Special Olympics athletes across Ontario, with 75 percent of funds directly supporting athletes in Hamilton.

After raising nearly $23,000 in 2025, the 2026 Polar Plunge surpassed its goal of $25,000. A whopping $27,500 was raised thanks to the hard work of major community partners like KX.947 radio station; Riverson Scaffolding; Primaris Lime Ridge Mall; The Pool Shoppe; and of course, the Catholic Youth Organization, and many others. What a spectacular way to showcase and celebrate our Special Olympic Athletes! ❤️👏

As speeding on City streets continues to be a safety challenge, I was excited to second Ward 6 Councillor Tom Jackson's motion for the installation of 4 Digital Speed Signs at today's Public Works Committee. Upper Gage is a busy shared boundary-road for Wards 6 and 7, and it's reassuring to know that the Transportation Division can now install four (4) permanent digital speed signs on Upper Gage Avenue this year at the following approximate locations:
(i) 770 Upper Gage Avenue, for the southbound lanes
(ii) 728 Upper Gage Avenue, for the southbound lanes
(iii) 775 Upper Gage Avenue, for the northbound lanes
(iv) 729 Upper Gage Avenue, for the northbound lane

Thank you City of Hamilton Staff for your help and hard work with these scheduled DSS signs, to Councillor Jackson for his initiative, and to Councillor colleagues for their unanimous vote supporting the installation of these signs.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting a new convenience store opened by Ward 7 residents. What a delightful time welcoming Farah Foods to the Hamilton community! Convenience stores are a meaningful asset to neighborhood pockets, and I wish Ram and Bala much success and longevity with their 54 Queen St. S. location!
