A form of nerve impingement causing radiating pain anywhere from the back, down the glutes 🍑 through the leg 🦵and down to the foot 🦶

Physiologically sciatica can be caused by a nerve being impinged between two tight muscles, between a muscle and a bone or by a single muscle alone. 🤯 So many possibilities!

I have treated HUNDREDS of patients with sciatica in my 14 years as a Massage Therapist. I feel like I’ve seen it all now 👀 Determining which of all these possibilities is actually occurring is my job, and I love sorting out the puzzle of my patients pain. ❤️‍🩹

💦We’ve all heard the “drink 8-12 glasses of water a day” line.... it’s old, it’s tired and most importantly it’s unspecific.

It’s a generic number created over 50 years ago by the best available science at the time. 💤 We are far beyond that now.

More importantly we need to have a more individual and specific approach to this age old dilemma.... how much water should I drink a day? 🤷🏻‍♀️💦

The Institute of Medicine came out with the best formula for this question! 👌🏻

Take your body weight in pounds and cut it in half, that’s how many ounces of water you should be drinking a day.
🎉 Brilliant, specific and individual to you! 🎉

If you workout, add 30oz 🏋️

🤔 Think about it, your muscles and joints have been going through the wringer for months up to SEVERAL YEARS before you actually get surgery. They are knotted up, shortened, tired and inflamed!

I honestly can’t tell you the number of times I’ve needed my ladies during this wild ride we call motherhood. 💓

You are my sounding boards, my inspiration, my heart healers, my brilliant sages full of wisdom and compassion. 🙏🏻🥹

I say it often that I am SO ETERNALLY GRATEFUL that you are not only in my life but in my daughter’s lives! 🥰 I am so grateful that as we approach the potentially contrast filled days of adolescence that they have you to come to when they feel they can’t come to me. 🫂

It is common for Doctors to recommend different types of therapy post operation but it is actually EQUALLY as important (if not more important) to have treatment
pre-op‼️

🦵💪 In my 12+ years of treating, every patient I have worked on pre-op has been their surgeons “star patient” 🌟 during recovery because their muscles and tissue were in the best shape possible going in to surgery! 👌🏻

Pre-op preparatory treatment should be considered as vital a part to surgery as post-op treatment is. ❤️‍🩹

So if you or a loved one is going to have hip, knee, shoulder or any other type of surgery let’s chat and see when is the best time to start treatment. ☺️

Water is the basis of blood 🩸 digestive juices 🧃 urine 💛 perspiration 😅 and is contained in lean muscle 💪🏻 fat and bones 🩻

Our bodies can’t store water so we need fresh supplies every day to make up for losses from the lungs, skin, urine and faeces.

So drink up! 💦

Motivational Monday ✨💓

It’s in the daily routines, the habit stacking, the little do’s that we do consistently that we see the biggest impact on our lives long term. 💧🥗😴📖✍️🧘🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️

Why? Because anyone can make a big move once. Anyone can muster the determination momentarily.

It takes dedication 💪🏻 belief ✨ and practice 💞 to do the do EVERY SINGLE DAY not matter WHAT the day looks like!

YOU decided these were important things to add and change about your life and routines. If they are important, they are important ALL THE TIME, not just when it is convenient and fits nicely in to your day. 🫂💞

Show up for yourself 💖 ESPECIALLY when it’s challenging and you don’t exactly want to because those are the days you need it most!

It takes 27 days to for a habit 📆 So be kind to yourself, keep going! Only you will know if you succeed, but you are the ONLY person that matters 😘🥰💖

Your brain is strongly influenced by your hydration status.

🤓 Studies show that even mild dehydration, such as the loss of 1-3%, can impair many aspects of brain function.

🚺 In a study of young women, researchers found that
fluid loss of 1.4% after exercise impaired both mood and concentration. 👀 It also increased the frequency of
headaches. 😣

🚹 In a a similar study in young men, they found that fluid loss of 1.6% was detrimental to working memory and
increased feelings of anxiety 😥 and fatigue. 😮‍💨

So drink up friends!! Your body will thank you
