Our Candlelight Memorial was such a touching and heartfelt evening. We were honoured to welcome so many families and individuals seeking support, healing, and a moment to honour the people who continue to live in their hearts.

The ceremony became especially moving as guests spoke the names of their loved ones, filling the room with remembrance and connection.

We extend our sincere thanks to Lorraine Sommerfeld, whose stories—told with humour and insight—resonated deeply. Her guidance on adjusting holiday traditions and her gentle reminder to ask for help when we need it were meaningful for so many. We are also grateful to Maureen Dermody and Christina Walton for offering their wisdom and compassion throughout the evening.

A special thank you to the entire Dermody’s staff for their care and behind-the-scenes work in bringing this event together. Thank you to Cherie for making the incredible cake!

It was a truly beautiful event, and nights like these remind us how powerful it is when grief is shared and gently held within a community.

We were honoured to be an exhibitor at last night’s event presented by Compassionate Communities Hamilton .

The message is simple yet powerful: “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to say.”
So many of us feel this way when someone is grieving or going through a tough time—but fear shouldn’t stop us from showing up. Together, we can do better.

We were grateful to learn from Yvonne Heath, founder of Love Your Life to Death and the movement. As “Canada’s Proactive Living Consultant,” Yvonne inspires communities to Just Show Up for themselves and others, building resilience long before grief and life’s challenges arrive.

We were also pleased to have Sarah Sunnucks from Smith’s Funeral Home alongside us, helping represent the compassionate care our profession strives to offer.

The evening featured exhibitors, speakers, resources, live entertainment, arts, humanities and cultural displays—bringing diverse learning, meaningful conversations, and deep connection around topics that touch us all.

Grateful to have been part of such a compassionate and impactful event. 💛
