Not only do I hear this from new families as a clinician but I’ve experienced this arrogance myself as a new parent and it can be scary. Having a “trusted” healthcare provider tell you a bunch of scary stuff that doesn’t quite sit right?!?! Follow your instincts and find a care provider that speaks to your parenting style and your heart. If you run into his just give me a call, I’m happy to talk it out and support your family goals. Love Jen 💜✨💜✨💜✨

No. Fn. S**t. IBCLCs, Doulas and Midwives have been saying this… FOREVER. Respond to your baby, pick your baby up and hug them, kiss them and baby wear them. Sleep with them in your bed or in your room but always always respond with compassion, love and respect to your baby’s needs.
Forever love

The American Academy of Pediatrics now advises against sleep training before 12 months. Research shows that forcing babies to sleep alone too early can disrupt attachment and the development of their nervous system. During the first year, babies need proximity to caregivers to feel safe and secure.

Sleeping in the parents’ room is more than convenience. It provides constant reassurance, allowing the infant’s nervous system to learn safety and stability. This closeness supports emotional regulation, stress management, and secure bonding, all of which are foundational for long-term mental and emotional health.

Babies who are left alone too soon may experience heightened stress responses, making it harder for them to self-soothe and regulate emotions later. Proximity during sleep wires the brain to understand that the world is predictable and safe.

Parents can implement safe room-sharing by keeping the crib or bassinet next to the bed, maintaining a firm sleep surface, and avoiding loose bedding. This setup allows babies to sleep safely while staying close enough to benefit from the calming presence of their caregivers.

Remember, proximity is not spoiling. It is a biological necessity that helps babies thrive. Safe closeness today builds confident, resilient children tomorrow.

Research published in the European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology reveals that a woman’s body requires far more time to fully recover after childbirth than previously believed. While traditional medical guidance suggests a six-week recovery period, the study indicates that complete physical, hormonal, and neurological restoration can take between one to two years. During this time, the body continues to heal internally, from organ repositioning and connective tissue repair to long-term hormonal rebalancing. The brain also undergoes gradual changes, adapting from pregnancy and postpartum shifts in cognition and emotion. These findings challenge conventional postpartum expectations and highlight the importance of long-term maternal care and recovery support.

New Publication Alert!

We’re excited to announce our latest article: “Balancing Mental Health and Breastfeeding: Evaluating the Transfer of Lurasidone into Human Milk” published in the The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry by Levi S. Campbell, PharmD; Palika Datta, PhD; Kaytlin Krutsch, PhD, PharmD, MBA.

🔍 Why it matters:
• First-ever quantitative data on how the antipsychotic Lurasidone transfers into breast milk.
• Relative infant dose (RID) found to be only ~1.16% at the standard 40 mg/day maternal dose — well below the 10 % safety threshold.
• No adverse effects reported in exposed infants in the study sample.

One of the questions I get as an is “why does the stop families from getting access for artificial baby milk if they need it” *hinthint* The code of marketing is here to help guide and protect healthcare providers from companies making false claims on their products aimed at infants and young children. It’s a tool that companies and healthcare providers can use to keep the information we give new families unbiased and honest.

Happening tomorrow
You’re doing impactful work and living into your values.

So why isn’t that care mirrored inside the organization? Why does the culture feel fractured?

Colleagues don’t offer each other the same generosity and patience we extend externally…
We say we value collaboration and curiosity, but struggle to give honest feedback…
We talk about transparency and accountability but keep decision-making behind closed doors…
We say we prioritize folks’ humanity, so why are we all burned out?
