Another Trauma Resiliency Program part 2 complete! I was so glad to be part of the co-facilitation team for this past week’s program. Every single TRP reaffirms for me human’s resiliency and capacity for posttraumatic growth.

Pivot.

The COVID19 pandemic continues despite the year turning over. What is different is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...

Throughout 2020, our clinical staff have been privileged to hold space and support many individuals and couples during times of fear, uncertainty, for some peace and quiet, loneliness, sadness, loss and pain.

We are travelling alongside the beautiful humans with whom we work.

I am so proud of how our staff pivoted, with little notice and so willingly, to continue doing the great work that they do virtually. As trauma therapists, the in-person connection is very important to the work that we do. Stepping on to a virtual platform had challenges. And we overcame!

So, as 2021 emerges from a place of hope, we will continue to hold space for you, continue to manage the challenges and wish everyone long moments of peace

The holidays are extra stressful this year. Psychologist and author Andrea Bonior offers some tips, whether you're feeling stressed, angry, lonely or guilty.

Humans are built to require connection with others. It is where we seek safety and heal from previous ruptures. The COVID19 pandemic has interfered with the nature of many of our connections. Many of us have not visited in-person with those we love and sometimes, virtual connections don’t quite fill the soul as nicely as in-person connections.

As I have said from the beginning, this is hard. And we will get through it.

COVID related

The city of Hamilton municipal government have voted to make masks mandatory in many public places. Mask wearing brings about a strong reaction in some. There are different reasons why some are hesitant and others simply cannot. For some, a mask acts as a trauma trigger. For others, it has to do with their perception of rights. For some, it has to do with unfamiliarity.

As governments try to clamp down on the spread of COVID-19, mandatory mask laws are becoming more common — and that has a vocal minority pushing back in a phenomenon best explained by psychology, says Dr. Steven Taylor.
