2 years ago on November 11…you went to be with Carol and all your loved ones waiting for you on the other side. God will have welcomed you with the biggest hug, no doubt.

But boy were we sad…

We will always love and miss you Cory, and your feedlot family will always keep you close in heart and spirit - in all we do! We talk about you often! And we reminisce about the laughter we shared!

Your smile hangs on our wall, with other precious loved ones who left us far too soon. We will never forget! One day we will be reunited again - boy, the stories we will share…and the laughter will continue!!

It’s so rewarding to see the animals In clean pens and so nicely bedded!

We have done so much work - but we have a week left of weather cooperating, it looks like, and we are going to pack in every hour we can. Waterbowls almost all re-insulated, a few new style waterbowls Installed, electrical upgrades almost finished, only a couple of our re-built pens left to pack, panel and some windbreak! Fall run has begun and we won’t quit till we have sucked every productive minute out of the days until it freezes!

Very grateful to friends in the community who have come alongside us to fulfill our vision!

Official congratulations and thanks to the team, and all our wonderful friends who have helped and supported, will come in a week or so!! 😁🥰

Now THIS was a lot of heavy lifting!!

What a day - a rewarding day! Thank you to our amazing crew, including OFFICE crew, and thank you to our amazing friends who ‘get it’!! We know, and they know, that farming is HARD WORK! It takes persistence and resilience and a never give up attitude!

We moved what I guessed to be about 1,000 tires in place for the pit…felt like 5,000? One of our team may guess better than me! We just went to work and got the job done! No complaining - just heart and committment. So proud of this team! All heart!! That’s who we are at the feedlot…there is no team like ours! And all usual business of receiving cattle, processing, feeding, herd health and pen repair continued simultaneously! Amazing!

Reminds me of the Teddy Roosevelt quote - the ‘Man in the Arena’. I put it up in Larry’s office years ago because it was who he was. We made one hell of a team. We did the work. So many challenges, but we hunkered down and paid the price. Every year - and no year was the same! I’m grateful for it now, because that was the template to continue in his honour!

Next year, at this time, I won’t be here. But, if they ever ask me to volunteer for silage wrap day, I will come! Because I will never forget what it takes and what these people do! The quality of people on that pile today - everyone would be privileged to know every single one of them!

I want to thank our amazing feedlot crew! Pics only capture a few. And additionally, I want to thank Bruce Cowling and his team, and Larry, Will, Susan and Paul, Emily, and Eli!!

CCA’s Executive Vice President Dennis Laycraft was a witness at the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food on Thursday, September 25. He shared that we truly believe Canada has some of the greatest potential in the world to be one of the world’s leading food producers and drive competitive growth in the Canadian economy. In order to best support these opportunities, CCA calls for regulatory alignment with the USA that reflects the integration of the North American beef industry, particularly alignment on the removal of specified risk material (SRM) and harmonization of drug regulations with the USA. Canada has the highest quality grain-fed beef in the world and looks to our federal and provincial governments to support our efforts to meet the growing world demand for Canadian beef.
