Retainers help, but muscles win long-term.
A truly stable smile needs:
 👄 Lip seal
👅 Tongue resting up on the palate
👃 Nasal breathing all day + all night
Myofunctional therapy helps correct the patterns that quietly shift teeth over time. Protect your investment and support healthy breathing, oral posture, and jaw growth.

Be sure to ask your Orthodontist if they collaborate with Myofunctional Therapists to get the best results. And if they don’t, reach out and we’ll be happy to help you with your tongue function!

Most people have never heard of myofunctional therapy — yet it connects so many dots.

By retraining how we breathe, rest, and swallow, we can support jaw stability, better sleep, and lifelong oral health.

Think of it as muscle training for the mouth and airway — helping you or your child find balance again.

If you’ve ever wondered why symptoms keep coming back (grinding, clenching, open-mouth posture, or restless sleep)… this might be the missing link.

Your nose is for breathing.
Your mouth? For eating, talking, and smiling 😄

When we breathe through the nose, the air is filtered, warmed, and humidified — supporting oxygen uptake, nitric oxide production, and calmer nervous system function.

Nasal breathing also:
✔️ Supports proper tongue posture
✔️ Encourages healthy jaw and facial growth
✔️ Promotes restorative, deeper sleep

💡 Try this quick reset any time throughout the day:
👄 Lips closed
👅 Tongue up to the palate
👃 Slow, quiet nasal breaths

Notice how your body feels?
Small shifts in function can create lifelong change. 💛

Thumb and finger sucking can be soothing and it often begins as a natural way to self-regulate.
But when the habit sticks around long-term, it can influence jaw growth, tooth position, breathing patterns, and oral posture.

So, how do you stop it? First off, try weaning between 6-12 months of age, but if you’re past that point there are options!

The key is not force…
It’s compassion, gradual change, and giving little bodies new skills to succeed.

When we support emotional needs and functional development, habit change becomes so much smoother. 🤍

If you have a little one trying to break a habit, but have been unsuccessful, our Oral Habit Elimination may work for you. Comment ‘HELP’ and let’s chat about your options!

Do you rest with your lips gently closed?
It’s a small detail, but it tells us a lot about breathing, airway health, and muscle balance.
Lip seal supports nasal breathing, tongue posture, jaw growth, and better sleep.
If keeping the lips closed feels hard, that’s a clue to start asking why!
Curious where you or your child stand?

Happy Halloween! 🎃

While we’re all swimming in candy today (and yes — kids should enjoy some 🍬💛), this is a gentle reminder that cavities aren’t just about sugar.
For years in hygiene practice, I thought brushing, flossing and less candy were the whole cavity picture… until I started researching the airway relation to oral health.
So many of the kids struggling with cavities were also mouth breathing, or had tongue ties.
Because when the mouth is dry and the tongue can’t do its job, bacteria thrives and cavities happen faster.
So if your little one struggles with cavities despite good brushing, I’m here to help you explore why.

Not all sleep struggles are just “bad sleep.” 😴
Sleep-disordered breathing happens when airflow becomes restricted during sleep — even mildly — reducing oxygen levels and disrupting deep, restorative rest.
Most people don’t realize that sleep-disordered breathing issues exist on a spectrum:
😮‍💨 Mouth Breathing → 😴 Snoring → 💨 Upper Airway Resistance (UARS) → 💤 Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
Even “mild” resistance affects oxygenation and can leave you feeling unrefreshed, foggy, or tense — and yes, this can affect children and adults.
Common clues:
🌙 Restless sleep or night sweats
😬 Teeth grinding
😮 Mouth open while sleeping
☁️ Morning headaches or brain fog
😤 Poor focus, behaviour, or mood
🛏️ Bed wetting in kids
If you notice mouth breathing, that’s the earliest signs of this spectrum. Don’t wait for “severe.”
💾 Save this checklist and bring it to your next dental/medical visit.

Ever feel like your allergies and mouth breathing feed off each other? 😮‍💨

Allergies can cause congestion — making it hard to breathe through your nose.
So the mouth takes over.
Mouth breathing dries out your airway, inflames tissues, and actually makes your allergies worse.
That dryness and inflammation keep the nose congested…
and the cycle keeps spinning.
Breaking the pattern means looking at the root cause of your mouth breathing and allergies. This might include allergy testing, restoring nasal breathing, calming inflammation, assessing your environment and retraining oral function — so your airway can finally work as it should.

If you’re stuck in the allergy–mouth breathing loop, it’s time to look beyond quick fixes. Your breath might be the key to lasting relief. 🌿

I used to see teeth grinding, crowded teeth, and worn-down enamel every single day in my dental hygiene chair.
And for the longest time, I thought it was just “normal” — stress, genetics, malocclusion.
What I didn’t realize back then was that these symptoms were often signals.
Signals of mouth breathing, low tongue posture, poor oral rest position, and even airway struggles that no one was talking about.
Not because I didn’t care… but because in my early dental career, I wasn’t taught to look at breathing, tongue posture, or sleep when assessing the mouth.
We focused on cleaning teeth, preventing cavities, treating gum disease — but no one told us that how a child breathes could shape their jaw, sleep, behavior, and even their headaches.
Now I know better. And I can’t unsee it.
Teeth grinding. Crowded arches. Kids waking with headaches. Moms clenching every night.
So often it’s not just stress. It’s the airway. It’s the tongue. It’s how the body is trying to survive.
Today, I’m on a mission to help change this pattern — for parents, for kids, and for the dental world.
Because breathing well, resting the tongue properly, and supporting facial growth matters.
For sleep. For behavior. For headaches. For overall health.
✨ Breathing isn’t just about air — it’s about how we live, grow, and feel every single day.
If this hits home, or your child struggles with these symptoms, you’re not alone — and there are solutions.
