Glimmers are the small moments that bring us joy, and gently remind us that our nervous system is safe, okay, and connected. They’re not big, dramatic breakthroughs they’re the quiet, subtle experiences that bring a soft exhale to your body.
A glimmer might be the warmth of a cup of tea in your hands.
A good book.
The sound of the waves, the river, or the rain on your roof when you are cozy indoors.
The sunlight on your skin.
The smell of the barn, the rhythm of hooves, or the stillness of nature holding you.
They’re the moments where your body says, “ I can rest here, this brings me peace and joy".
When we’ve lived through stress or trauma, our system becomes very good at spotting danger and being on alert. Glimmers help retrain the body to also notice the joy, the safety, beauty, and ease. They don’t erase the hard stuff but they gently widen the space around it.
Noticing glimmers is a practice. It’s learning to pause long enough to notice and let the good land.
What are some of your Glimmers?
