Welcoming New Physicians to Hinton Medical Clinic

We’re pleased to share some positive news with the residents of Hinton and the surrounding area — new physicians have recently joined Hinton Medical Clinic! We’re excited to welcome them to our community and to the many roles they will be fulfilling across the clinic, hospital, and other care settings in town.

As they begin their work here, our new physicians will first spend time settling in, learning local systems, and becoming familiar with their responsibilities. For this reason, they will begin building their practices and accepting new patients after a few months, once this transition period is complete.

We also want to acknowledge that our clinic’s wait list is very long, and that many individuals and families in our community have been waiting for a family physician for several years. We understand how difficult and frustrating this can be, and we are deeply grateful to the many community members, partners, and supporters who have helped with physician recruitment and made it possible for us to reach a point where we can begin taking patients off the wait list.

Hinton Medical Clinic follows the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) Standards of Practice, including the Establishing the Physician-Patient Relationship guideline. Patients will be contacted in the order they were added to the waiting list.

In accordance with this standard, when physicians begin accepting patients from the clinic’s existing waiting list, selection criteria cannot:
• Include grounds that could be perceived as discriminatory (including age, s*x, gender identity, religion, race, or family status)
• Exclude patients based on medical complexity or the need for additional preparation, documentation, or reports
These standards help ensure that patient attachment is fair, ethical, and based on appropriate clinical considerations, while supporting continuity and quality of care.
As a close-knit community, we also ask for your kindness and patience as our new physicians settle into their roles. A warm welcome and understanding will go a long way as they get to know Hinton and begin caring for our community.
Thank you for your continued support — we’re grateful to be growing together.

— Hinton Medical Clinic

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 26, 2026
Hinton Medical Clinic Welcomes New Physician to Our Team
The Hinton Medical Clinic is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Francis Nwosu, who officially joined our medical team this month. His addition marks an important step in addressing the long-standing physician shortage in our community and improving access to timely, local healthcare.
Why Physician Recruitment Matters in Rural Communities
Rural communities like Hinton often face unique challenges in attracting and retaining healthcare professionals. Effective recruitment helps ensure residents receive care close to home, reduces the need for travel, and strengthens the overall healthcare system. Each new physician contributes to the well‑being and long‑term vitality of our region.
The Role of Volunteers and ARCH
The success of physician recruitment in Hinton is supported by dedicated community volunteers and the Hinton Attraction and Retention Committee (ARCH). ARCH provides community tours, local insight, and transition support to help new physicians feel welcomed and connected. Their efforts play a key role in encouraging long-term retention.
What This Means for Patients
● If you do not currently have a physician: Please call the clinic to ensure you are registered on our waitlist. The waitlist operates on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
● If you have a physician in another community: You may continue receiving care there. If you wish to transfer to a local doctor, please join the waitlist and follow the clinic’s process.
● Is the process first‑come, first‑served for appointments? Not exactly. While the waitlist is first‑come, first‑served for registration, each physician determines how they build their practice and accept new patients.
We appreciate the community’s patience and ongoing support as we continue working to strengthen healthcare services in Hinton. For more information or to join the waitlist, please contact the Hinton Medical Clinic at 780‑865‑3338.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 23, 2025
Hinton Medical Clinic Welcomes New Physician to Our Team
The Hinton Medical Clinic is pleased to announce the addition of a new physician to our healthcare team. Dr. Dina Alasadi will officially join us in January 2026, marking an important milestone in addressing the long-standing physician shortage in our community.
For many years, Hinton has faced challenges in recruiting and retaining medical professionals. This new appointment represents a significant step toward improving residents' access to healthcare.
Why Physician Recruitment Matters in Rural Communities
Access to healthcare is a cornerstone of community well-being, yet rural communities like Hinton often face unique challenges in attracting and retaining physicians. Recruitment efforts ensure residents receive timely care close to home, reducing travel burdens and improving overall health outcomes. Every new physician strengthens our local healthcare system and supports the vitality of our region.
The Role of Volunteers and ARCH
The success of physician recruitment in Hinton is made possible by the dedication of volunteers and the Hinton Attraction and Retention Committee (ARCH). ARCH plays a vital role in welcoming physicians to our community, organizing tours, and helping new doctors integrate into local life. Their efforts create a warm, supportive environment that encourages physicians to build long-term practices in Hinton.
"Our volunteers are the heart of this process," said Fiona Murray-Galbraith, ARCH representative. "From greeting physicians during their first visit to showcasing the beauty and spirit of Hinton, we work hard to make them feel at home. This collaboration ensures that healthcare professionals see Hinton not just as a workplace, but as a community where they belong."
What This Means for Patients
If you do not currently have a physician:
Please call the clinic to ensure you are on our waitlist. Registration on the waitlist is first-come, first-served.

You may continue with your current physician. If you wish to transfer to a local doctor, you will need to join the waitlist and follow the clinic’s process.

Is it first-come, first-served for appointments?
