We said goodbye to my Grandmother this past week and I sit quietly today reflecting on what it means to now have all of my Grandparents as ancestors in the stars.

My Nana was a devout Catholic and loved to gift me rosaries. She prayed for me a lot and I don’t know if I allowed them all to land as I didn’t ever want her worrying about me. 🩵

There were so many words of how much love she poured into her Pelletier and Nadjiwan family. I was grateful to be a recipient of that love.

Death is a transition and I can already feel the strength of her spirit communicating with me. She will continue to inspire me to dance and sing and I might even take up the piano again. 🎹

My first time visiting Aamjiwnaang First Nation and it was a beautiful evening.

I shared 13 moon medicine teachings on the eve of Nambine Giizis 🌕🌱.

This First Nation has gone through so much, being in the centre of what is called “Chemical valley”. They have experienced high levels of environmental racism where benzene has leaked into their environment contaminating the air, water and soil. So many consequences on people’s health 💔

Happening for decades now; they had a recent hydrocarbon spill in March from a pipeline that runs through their precious water and land. There is a rightful demand for transparency and communication for the community.

I feel angry and sad that our world continues to value profits over people, land and precious resources. This continues to happen in our country. Indigenous people protecting the land and all of creation and money always winning. 😭

Happy Full Moon - Namebine Giizis 🌕✨🌱

A time of cleansing and purification, we turn to our four sacred medicines to remind us what needs to be released and let go.

SMOKE MEDICINE PRAYER
May I cleanse my mind so that I may think uplifting thoughts.

May I cleanse my ears so that I may release any unkind words or energy that I have heard.

May I cleanse my mouth so that I may speak with love.

May I cleanse my throat so that I may speak the truth.

May I cleanse my heart of all that weighs heavy.

May I cleanse my center so that I may come back to trusting my
inner wisdom.

I move this smoke down my body to help me root into Mother and walk in a good way.

I have spent many hours trying to solve the “problems” of my body. Feeling behind, broken, and like a failure.

This video is from a retreat I was invited to teach at in Mexico and as you can see, I needed the chair for an accommodation as I can no longer sit on the floor. I was also wearing the hotel slippers as shoes as I had a chronic wound that was painful and they were the only things I could wear comfortably.

In the past I would have felt shame asking for different things that would provide more comfort. But this time I knew what I needed so I could show up in my medicine. I knew that the chair and slippers were actually an important part of that.

They reminded me that I could choose to love myself more than feeling embarrassed or not “normal” whatever that means.

Even the way I have to now carefully move, is medicine. 🌷✨🪶

I have spent 30 years living with an autoimmune disease. For over 20 of them, I have chased healing through diet, energy work, supplements, and many, many alternative health therapies. I sure that some of it has kept me on this planet. But a lot of it has kept me in shame. Shame that I somehow caused this with my thinking. Shame that I wasn’t doing the correct protocol. Shame that I wasn’t healing the “right” way.

When I met .bedrick something changed within me. He spoke to my experience of living as an Indigenous woman in this country and the impact this had on my body. He met my symptoms as something not to fix but rather something that carried medicine.

As a result, I began to choose care for myself from a place of love and not fear. I began to see how working in the wellness field for so many years had done me a disservice in many ways. My mind was always searching for what I could make better, as if somehow, I was broken and needed to be fixed.

Yes, I believe that we should tend, care and nourish ourselves to the best of our ability. Yes, I believe in many of the therapies I have tried and practiced myself. But when our systems are constantly on high alert, only seeing what is wrong with us - we cannot see the beauty and divine perfection already there.

David and I are co-creating an experience next Tuesday, March 31st called “Finding Medicine in Chronic Symptoms” and we would love to have you there. We are weaving our gifts together to provide you with a sacred space where you will be guided back to the beauty, the gifts and the wisdom of the symptoms your body shares.

We welcomed in the Spring Equinox last week and then I got a bad virus that slowed my right down.

It reminded me of the liminal space that we dance in as the seasons change. The thaw has started and my body and emotions also began to flow and release.

We cannot force the season into blooming, we can trust the medicine in the slow change. With our bodies and spirits coming out of wintering, we must remember that we are not behind, we are becoming. 🌸🌷🌼

This moon represents completion and spiritual integration which is perfect as the medicine wheel begins to turn into the East direction of Spring.

Before we begin to dream and set intentions to soar, we are asked to reflect on our last wintering season. What arose for you? What wisdom wants to be claimed? What is calling to you to be fully processed before the next season begins?

All of the creators I have ever worked with have the same fear. It’s a very human fear.

What if people reject it, what if people criticize it, what if people say mean things?

I get it. And, it’s not personal or about you even though it feels like it is. 🩵

What if it was the season they were in when they read it? What if they weren’t quite ready for what you had to share? Everyone is reading it though their own lens which is also wrapped up in projections and expectations.

It’s also okay if they don’t like it, you aren’t for everyone. ✨🔥

(It’s only been out for 4 years haha, but 5 years since I let it out of my hands)

Keep going. You never know the impact you might make. 🙏🏽☀️

Happy Sugar Moon - Ziisbaakdoke Giizis 🌕✨🍁 (and lunar eclipse)

Our third Moon of Creation is in March, when the snow begins to melt and the sugary sweet Maple Tree sap begins to run. Maple syrup is a traditional Medicine for Indigenous people offered to us to balance our blood. We honor this Medicine as a deep healing tonic. This Moon asks us to reflect on the sweetness in our lives that flows to us through the words we speak to ourselves and the beliefs we hold about our worth.

Unconditional love is an antidote to our inner critic, and this Moon reminds us that compassion heals all. During this Moon, we celebrate the Spring Equinox, Creation begins to unfreeze and melt, and new life is born.
