Rehab doesn’t fail because you “didn’t try hard enough.”
It usually fails because the process breaks down somewhere.

Common reasons rehab fails:

❌ Exercises never progress as you get stronger
❌ Treatment focuses only on pain, not function
❌ You’re told to rest for too long
❌ You don’t understand why you’re doing the exercises

Knowing when physio helps (and when it doesn’t) actually leads to better outcomes.
Physiotherapy helps when:
✔️ Pain or injury is related to movement, strength, or load
✔️ You’ve had surgery and need guided rehab
✔️ Pain keeps coming back because the root cause wasn’t addressed
✔️ You want to move better, not just feel better temporarily
✔️ You’re willing to be an active part of the process

Physio may NOT help when:

❄️ **Snow Shoveling Tips from your team at Holyrood Wellness** ❄️

With heavy snowfall moving through the area, now’s the time to think about protecting your back, shoulders, and heart before heading outside.

At Holyrood Wellness Centre, we see a spike in strains and sprains after storms like this — but a few simple strategies can make all the difference.

# # # 🟢 Warm Up Before You Start

Cold muscles are more prone to injury.
Spend 3–5 minutes:

* Marching in place
* Doing arm circles
* Gently bending backward to loosen your spine

# # # 🟢 Don’t Let It Build Up

Clear snow in smaller amounts throughout the storm instead of tackling one heavy load at the end. Wet snow gets heavier quickly.

# # # 🟢 Push More, Lift Less

Whenever possible, push the snow aside.
If lifting is necessary:

* Bend at your knees (not your back)
* Keep the shovel close to your body
* Turn your whole body instead of twisting

# # # 🟢 Take Regular Breaks

Shoveling is demanding work. Rest every 10–15 minutes and pay attention to warning signs like dizziness, chest discomfort, or unusual shortness of breath.

# # # 🟢 Alternate Sides

Switch your grip and stance to avoid overloading one side of your body.
