Know a frontline worker who could use a break?

This unique trip is designed for Frontline Workers and Healthcare Professionals; to support those who support others. It is offered at a discounted rate, with gratitude for the effort and sacrifices made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Using nature as our host and mentor, our guides will lead you through a restorative and transformative three day canoe trip in the Algonquin Park, with follow up coaching calls to help make the most of the experience.

You will be drawing inspiration from and deepening your connection with nature, building community with likeminded peers, with the aim of leaving you feeling more restored with greater clarity and energy.

Details can be found at the link in our bio!

Note: Given that this trip is partly facilitated by a licensed therapist, a portion of the ticket cost is able to be covered by insurance where applicable. Also includes 1:1 and group sessions, pre, during and post trip.

For many healthcare or frontline workers, work can be painful. Both in terms of the nature of the work itself, but also many of the organizational challenges such as workplace culture, relationships, demands and resources.

There isn’t a quick fix to this; and much of the work needs to start at the top; creating an inclusive and resilient workplace culture to flexibly deal with inherently difficult challenges. It’s also essential that initiatives to address the issues are not tokenistic or impractical, or imply the ‘blame’ for organizational challenges rests with individuals themselves, (‘if only our people were stronger, more resilient, looked after themselves better’ etc etc).

If ever there was a recipe for staff attrition, it’s ‘do more with less, and like it’ (with a free lunchtime yoga session thrown in).

But we can start to think about creating a resilience map for ourselves, to navigate the personal and professional challenges we face. Such a map may include…

- Our compass- defining our values, our purpose, our hopes and inspiration
- Our kit- our support network, our strengths, the people and resources we can call on at times of difficulty
- The difficult terrain- defining the specific challenges, fears or obstacles we face
-The important landmarks- our achievements and measures of progress or success
- Our route- what simple, meaningful, practical steps can we take, (if only one step), that would help us move forward?
-
Drawing on nature as our guide and mentor, we’ll begin to explore the above on our first of its kind canoe trip, Strength to Care, in the Algonquin Park. Spaces are limited. Part of trip cost redeemable through extended healthcare coverage.

Central to ecotherapy is the notion of reciprocity: that we don’t just ‘use’ nature for our own well-being. There is no human health on a sick planet

Ecotherapy offers therapists, healers, guides and educators a wide variety of useful nature-connection practices with evidence-based healing effectiveness. But it also asks us to reframe our understanding of some of today’s most critical mental health challenges.
