Some days this more accurately describes my practice than anything else.

A reminder that yoga is something we do for enjoyment and perfection never ever needs to be the goal. The key is self-compassion, humour, and a willingness for it to be awkward.

If you've never practiced before, just know that I've been practicing and teaching for 15+ years and my practice isn't aesthetically perfect, but it does exactly what I need it to do for me.

Don't let fear of those perfect poses and bodies you see on social media deter you from practicing either online or in person.

Anyone else?

Some days all I do is a downdog and pigeon and call it a practice. It keeps me grounded, reminds me that I have a body, and gets me out of my head for just a little while.

Did somebody say stretching your hips releases stuck emotions?

Stuck-ness happens we hold on to bodily tension from the chronic stress that comes along with repressing our real emotions, living through trauma, or living out of alignment with our energy and our values, etc...

As much as it would be nice to simply just stretch the difficult emotions away, no amount of stretching will ever replace working with a qualified professional who can help you titrate your experience gently, allowing you to manage your stress and reconnect with your body.

That being said, gentle movement is generally never a bad thing. Do both and be kind to yourself. 🥰

If a standing Warrior 2 feels pinchy in your hips or tough on your ankles, try this kneeling variation.

I call it Knees Warrior 2. Functional Fitness folks call it Dynamic Half-Kneeling Adductor Mobilization.

This is one of my favourite ways to gently mobilize the inner thighs and wake up the hips without standing up. It's a regular feature in the Yin Flow & Hips, Hams, and Core classes.

Why I love Knees Warrior:

It’s Dynamic: Sinking in and backing out (like I do in the video) lubricates the hip joint.
It’s Stable: Pivoting your back shin like a "kickstand" supports balance.
It’s Accessible: You get all the hip-opening benefits of Warrior 2, with minimal effort.

Remember: As you sink into the pose, keep your chest lifted and use your breath to explore the depth. Don't force it! Gentle gentle all the way.
