I’m excited to finally share this: my new book is now live.

This book started as a simple question I couldn’t shake: What is Qi?

I’ve taught Qigong for more than twenty years, practiced and taught Chinese medicine as a regulated health professional, and I’ve been immersed in martial arts since I was thirteen. After over three decades of training, studying, and working with these traditions, I realized I needed to write the book I had been searching for — something that helps Qi make sense in a clear, practical way, without losing the depth of Chinese medicine and Daoist practice.

It’s the book I needed when I first started looking for the Dao more than thirty years ago.

If you’re interested in Qigong, Chinese medicine, meditation, martial arts, or understanding how energy and awareness interact in the body, I think this book will offer something useful.

I study meditation and Qigong from all angles using modern scientific research. I don't do this because I think it "needs" to be studied, it's fine as it is. I study it this way to help bring the various practices to a wider audience, and to help understand the effect that it has on our subjective experiences using objective measurements. My hope is that it helps make the beneficial aspects of meditation and Qigong repeatable for average people, across time and location.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the connection between "Ting" (聽 - listening) and modern scientific concept of Coherence when practicing Qigong.

Coherence is when your mind and heart are sending the same message.
