✨ Prenatal Depression ✨
Most people know what postpartum depression is or have at least heard of it. But one thing that is not talked about as much is prenatal depression, which is just as common and serious.
Prenatal depression can affect 1 in 8 pregnant people. It is commonly brushed off as an increase in hormones and fatigue due to the pregnancy, which can be the case. But in some situations it can escalate into something much more serious.
Many pregnant people and loved ones over look the symptoms and think of it as just baby blues.
Common Symptoms:
~ Changes in appetite, specifically loss of appetite
~ Feeling empty and alone
~ Feeling overwhelmed
~ Easily irritable and angry
~ Uncontrollably sad, crying more than usual, can’t shakes the feelings of sadness
~ Out of focus and can’t concentrate
~ Fatigue
~ Loss of interest in day to day activities
~ Thoughts of self harm
