Mind & Body Academy is specially designed for children, to empower them with strategies to:
* manage their difficult thoughts and emotions
* focus on the present (Mindfulness)
* combine physical exercise with a healthy lifestyle for a holistic well-being Raising a little human being is one of the most fulfilling roles in our lives but is also a huge responsibility to be responsible for their physical, mental and social well-being. Especially in the last couple of years it was not easy for us, as parents, to joggle between our anxieties and stress but it was especially hard for our children because they are so impressionable and empathic. Unfortunately, according to recent studies, children's depression and anxiety rates may have doubled since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic*. That’s where the Mind and Body Academy comes into play. One of the best gifts that we can offer our kids is to equip them with personal growth, stress management and self-reflection skills. Our Academy offers weekly workshops divided in 2 sections:
45 minutes of physical exercise (aerobics and fitness for children), breathing and relaxation techniques
45 minutes of interactive lessons based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children, Mindfulness and practical coping skills. My mission is to:
Implement a routine for a healthy lifestyle through regular physical exercise and healthy diet choices
Teach children to manage their thoughts and emotions using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, breathing and relaxation techniques and other coping skills. Help them focus on the present moment through Mindfulness techniques and not ruminating on the past events or worrying about the future
Show how to overcome an upsetting situation by not getting anxious or angry but redirecting those emotions through healthy coping mechanisms
Assist children to feel calm and safe by regulating emotions and enhancing their confidence and resilience
Support children to form healthy friendships and team working skills
Foster positive thinking and growth
We want our children to be able to manage their anxiety and anger, to regain calmness and feel safe even when a challenging situation occurs in school, or at a playground or even in the families. The main goal is to prevent any mental issue by empowering them with the necessary skills for coping, and to address any clinical anxiety and panic attacks in the early stages, if the case. For more serious cases, I recommend reaching out to a therapist or specialized counselling.
