It is with profound concern and hope that CE4ST acknowledges a recent Los Angeles jury verdict finding Meta Platforms and YouTube negligent in the design and operation of their social media platforms. In this landmark case addressing social media addiction and youth harm, the jury awarded the plaintiff $3 million in damages, assigning 70% responsibility to Mega and 30% to YouTube.

This case represents the first in a consolidated wave of litigation involving more than 1,600 plaintiffs, including over 350 families and more than 250 school districts. It signals a growing recognition of the profound impact these platforms may have on young people and raises urgent questions about responsibility, safety, and the duty to protect vulnerable users.
