The BCRS Executive came together over the weekend for a Strategic Planning Meeting to shape our direction for the next three years — aligning on our key priorities and strengthening our commitment to advancing medical imaging in BC.

This weekend, BCRS President Dr. Brenda Farnquist and CEO Amy Smith attended the CAMRT-BC Summit in Burnaby, an excellent opportunity to connect with and support MRTs from across the province.

Dr. Farnquist opened the conference with a warm welcome, and Amy Smith shared remarks at the evening awards reception. Throughout the weekend, we strengthened relationships with our industry partners, held a productive lunch meeting with Kerri Smith from the PMIO, and had insightful discussions with new CAMRT CEO, Kelly Masotti about the future of medical imaging.

Your BCRS membership makes this collaboration and advocacy possible, ensuring the voice of radiology is represented where it matters most.

The Don Rix Award for Physician Leadership is one of the most prestigious awards that can be given to a doctor in BC. The award recognizes a lifetime achievement so outstanding that it serves as an inspiration and a challenge to the medical profession in British Columbia.

On October 6, 2025 BCRS President Dr Brenda Farnquist, BCRS President- Elect Dr. Wan Wan Yap and BCRS CEO Amy Smith had an in-person meeting with Assistant Deputy Minister Ian Rongve in Victoria, BC.

During the meeting, we reinforced our role as a solution provider, working collaboratively with the Ministry to identify strategies that optimize existing resources and improve system efficiency.

The meeting was highly productive, with clear next steps established including an invitation from Dr. Rongve to continue regular in-person meetings.
