This we want to send a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the feral cat spay/neuter clinic held on Friday. With the help of students and teachers from TRU and surgery cost covered by the Hospital Trust Fund, we were able to spay/neuter 18 feral cats! These kitties received vaccinations and de-wormer treatments courtesy of Zoetis and Boeringer. A huge shout out to our Vet Assistant Lyndsay Stewart for organizing this successful event ❤

Kamloops Spay/Neuter Program is now available for cats part of low income families in Kamloops.

The BC SPCA Community Animal Centre and Spay-Neuter Clinic in Kamloops are re-launching the low income spay/neuter program to address cat overpopulation in the city.
Vulnerable pet guardians often have barriers that create challenges in accessing the care they need for their pets, including spay neuter services, which is why programs like this one play a crucial role in the health of pets living in the community and preventing unwanted litters.

Research shows that, as an individual, you can reduce the cat overpopulation problem by spaying and neutering your cat. Fixing your cat will also be one of the best things you can do to protect your cat’s health. Your cat will fight less, your vet bills will be lower and your fixed cat will be healthier and happier.

For cat guardians in the community who are unable to afford the surgery, you may qualify for our program. Apply online at https://spca.bc.ca/ways-to-help/take-action/animals-in-the-home/cat-overpopulation/spay-neuter-available-kamloops/?fbclid=IwAR2Aj-PnSdLdn-rDzUThmqv9q5qUilo4Zav2H_ebXCZXHtBUHXDIs4iJGMI or call 1-855-622-7722 (option 6 on the menu).

The BC SPCA Kamloops & District Branch currently has funding available for free spay/neuters for cats from the North Shore and Brocklehurst neighbourhoods.

Kamloops has a cat crisis. What does that mean? Out of all 35 BC SPCA Community Animal Centres, Kamloops has the largest number of cats and kittens coming in and many of them are kittens from unwanted litters. Stray cat complaints and reports of feral cats are constantly coming in and there is a waitlist for cat surrenders coming into the shelter, there are simply too many.
