Becky Blixrud, Certified Health Coach As a Health Coach, I help people identify their health goals and create a plan to transform their li I'm here to help!

Do you want to get healthy but feel overwelmed about where to start? My name is Becky and I believe great health is achievable and necessary for everyone! Over the past number of years, I have struggled with digestive issues, food sensitivities, and challenges around anxiety and stress. Through a series of modifications to what I eat and my lifestyle, I've made great progress in how I feel, both physically and mentally. My health journey inspired me to want to help others, so I signed up for the Health Coaching Program through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2015, and I'm so glad I did! Now, I help people - mainly young women - understand what's in the food they're using to fuel their bodies. I guide people in make nutritious choices so they can maintain healthy body weight, have a great mood & clear mind - without going on extreme fad diets. Many of the people I work with have spouses, families, or will soon be starting a family. I'm excited to help them build a strong foundation of nutritional knowledge so they can make great choices for the rest of their lives. For individuals who already have a basic understanding of nutrition, we work on creating great habits around food and movement. When people - but especially women - make great choices in the areas of nutrition and exercise, the whole family benefits. My approach to health is this - your physical condition is impacted by SO much more than just food. Exercise, spirituality, relationships, finances, career, and sleep all factor into helping people be the happiest, healthiest versions of themselves. By making small modifications in any of these areas, our health improves. Conversely, when you take one small baby step in how you eat, your entire life is impacted in a positive way. Help me help you take your first small step towards a better life today! Message me today to find out more about how I can help you as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

🚨I ate food I grew tonight!!!
(Excitement level 12)

πŸ’šMy wee garden patch has started producing and despite my inexperience somehow spinach and romaine have made it.

Highlights of our dinner...

Salad base made up entirely of spinach, romaine, chives, sorel, and baby kale from my and my parents' gardens. ❀

Oh, and some absolutely delicious treats from via . Thank you Monica for the to-die-for treats!! 😘

There were some balsamic roasted brussel sprouts, rice and asparagus involved too but didn't meet the excitement threshold enough to photograph.

Meals around here have been pretty darn simple lately, but we switched it up this week and created a little picnic board. Not going to lie, seeing the share plates created by Gather & Graze NZ have had me drooling and was the inspiration for this meal. (Wish I were in New Zealand to order one.)

We love frying up the sausages for some added flavour beside all those delicious fresh veggies and pickled treats.

What are you eating this week?

Tried two more recipes from Oh She Glows For Dinner cookbook today!

πŸ˜‹ Speedy 8-Ingredient Pantry Dal
&
πŸͺ Chewy Double-Chocolate Sunflower Cookies (except I swapped the brown sugar for white sugar + 2 tbsp agave nectar and used peanut butter instead of sunflower seed butter.)

I think I might have found a new favourite cookie recipe, these babies are super chewy as I cooled them in the fridge. πŸ’―

Are you a chewy cookie or crunchy cookie kinda person?

I feel so loved! Not one but two people know me so well that they pre-ordered the cookbook for me! (Shout out to Monica and my Dad πŸ₯°).

I haven't read through every recipe yet but I had to dive in and start cooking. This warm potato salad with asparagus and lentils was amazing! Very hearty and full of flavor. Excited to cook my way through this new book and add a few more plant-based recipes to my routine.

It's World Mental Health Day! 🧠

There is still stigma around seeking help for mental health related struggles and it leads to self-medicating in sometimes very harmful ways. Although there is still stigma and it can take a lot of courage to reach out for help, taking steps to make our mental health the best it can be is a huge gift we can give ourselves and our loved ones. πŸ’ Let's start prioritizing our mental health as much as we do our physical well-being!

Connecting with friends and spending time outside are two huge components of how I care for my own mental health.πŸ‘ What about you?
