💪 A Weekly Stretching routine, keep soft tissue supple and notice any decreased range of motion early on!

How well you’re able to read when it's pain that's actually creating resistance in your horse, will have a direct correlation to their LONG TERM success in the Arena.

You might be able to get by in those early years with just focusing on the training piece but it will catch up to you in those later years…often right when they start to come on strong and really start to work!

So take the time to learn how to read your horse early on.

Do the seemingly little things while they’re young.
-

Preventive maintenance, get to know their personality..likes..dislikes..how they show pain...know what their body feels like.

Treat them like the Unicorn you want them to be

So that once they know how to do their job WELL, their body will be able to keep up for years to come!💪

When I first started out in the bodywork world I knew stretching could be helpful- I mean you don’t see many professional human athletes NOT incorporating a stretching program in their routine but did it really make that much of a difference?🤔🤔

We’re going into the holidays and that means a lot of people are hanging up their halters and turning their horses out for a much deserved break.

Did you know after just 3 weeks off work, a horse can lose up to 50% of its cardiovascular fitness and significant muscle tone - especially in the topline and hindquarters. That may sound a bit odd, but hear me out.

Most horses are at home right now and, for the most part, not competing.

See, when horses are in the thick of the season, their bodies need to hold a certain layer of protection.
-

And as a body worker, I respect that when we’re in the thick of the season, we don’t want to be completely unravelling compensation patterns.
-

Because when we change these deep patterns they will actually end up feeling weaker for a period of time.
-
-

Their body will need to start using muscles it hasn’t been and this takes time to build back strength moving in this new way.

But when we’re in the off-season and your Horse’s body is getting a little RnR, it’s Game On!😎

It gives us a chance to allow Big shifts of old patterns. The ability to build a new level of balanced strength that lasts💪💪
