My first experience with candle making was on the beach at Point Roberts Washington in 1973 with my husband, Ernie Baker. We made the most fun sand candles with driftwood and of all waxes - sealing wax used for canning.
In the late 80's I discovered a company called Wicks and Wax - check out their FaceBook page and Website. The journey with all kinds of wonderful waxes began. They liked me enough to allow me to work part-time for them in the early 90's and I have an amazing relationship with them today.
I have a passion for a variety of molds and this one took my heart and I could not wait to produce these roses in BC Beeswax.
These mini votives come as a gift pack of 5 - boxed together because of their delicate nature. They will burn three times longer than most candles and should burn for at least 5-6 hours without a draft to interrupt the burn.

It is back to school for some today, for myself it is back to my workshop to create. I love the Autumn season and always feel more inspired at this time of year to enjoy my soap and candle rooms. Lately, I have received requests to please post on Face Book - I tend to get a little chatty and this being new to me - I trust you will enjoy what I have to say.

I have been making natural vegetable based oil soaps since the late 80's. Originally, I learned from my Aunt in Winnipeg to make soap from tallow. Every summer I would get shipped by train or truck from Calgary to be with her and my Uncle.

The soap I am about to show you here was originally developed for myself to soothe my itchy dry skin. It is wonderful for hypersensitive skin with eczema or suffering from dry allergic conditions. It contains no fragrance other than the slight fragrance from the ground organic Chamomile.

I never make just a plain bar of soap, I collect soap molds like some people collect shoes. These Pear molds come in a large bath size or a small guest size. I give these as gifts for Newly weds or at wedding showers with special packaging that states "You Two Make A Great Pear".

. The art of painting eggs is called pysanka, which originated in Ukraine. It involves using wax and dyes to color the egg.

I create these eggs for burning yes they are candles - the white egg is done in Eco-soya wax with a Vanilla scent and the Yellow egg is created in our lovely BC Beeswax.

Woody and reminiscent of one of the oldest aromatics used. Basil essential oil is not only refreshing but invigorating. The Little Bits (LB) samples that you see are always made with each batch of my soaps so that if you want to smell, lather up and sample I am happy to provide them upon request. The word BODACIOUS is actually a 1837 Southern US Slang and was popularized anew in 1982 in the Hollywood film "An Officer And A Gentleman"

Candy aside, there are plenty of cool items to fill the stockings that are inexpensive: Yes like soap, bath fizzers, lip balms, small candles, tea light candles, votives all if which I create. Don't wait until the last minute...... Have a wonderful Monday.

December 1st ! Are we ready for the fat man (aka Santa) to fall down the chimney or come into our festive lives any way he can? In addition to cleaning up my act with soap, I have been making candles since 1972. This coming month I will be show and telling some of the wonderful creations you can enjoy in cosmetic grade white beeswax, yellow BC beeswax or vegetable waxes. My late husband, Ernie - loved Candy Corn - he also loved Halloween! I made these Fun-Ky candles in memory of Ernie. I for sure will burn them on Halloween......

Here we are - thoughtful Thursday. I was thinking when I used to give home shows when I lived on Vancouver Island, I took such delight in gift packaging my soaps and candles. That is how Lori Baker Cookie Maker, Lori Baker Pizza Maker, Lori Baker party maker became Lori Baker Giftmaker.
