Job Title: Resource Worker

Qualifications : Education, Training & Experience
• Certificate in related human/social service field(Preferred)
• Two (2) year of recent related experience (Required)
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Level 1 First Aid Certificate (Required)
• Class 5 Drivers License (Required)

Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Participates in the assessment, goal setting and program planning for the person being supported
2. Documents, implements, and provides input into the evaluation of the program
3. Provides life skills training that that aligns with the persons preferences and goals.
4. Plans, participates in and provides direct support during person-centered activities in alignment with the person’s goals and preferences
5. Recognizes, analyzes, and takes a pro-active approach to potential emergency situations,
6. Provides emotional support to person to assist with emotional regulation, de-escalation and/or debriefing an emotional situation.
7. Assists person with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts, transfers, hygiene, grooming and toileting.
8. Administers, records and stores medications in accordance with established policies and CARF standards.
9. At the direction of the Program Manager, schedules, transports and assists person with medical and dental appointments.
10. Performs basic house housekeeping duties such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment and food services.
11. Completes and maintains all required documentation in accordance with established policies.
12. Identifies social, economic, recreational, and educational services in the community that align with the person(s) preferences and service plan.
13. At the direction of the Program Manager, liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community.

On May 29th, 2024, Active Care had a great opportunity to connect with the Work Integrated Learning division of Coast Mountain Collage (CMTN) in Terrace to discuss how we can collaborate to create opportunities for potential talent acquisition. We met with the Learning Transformation Specialist, Danna Buick, and Jing Mao to explore ways we can collaborate in finding talent through participating in job fairs and posting on their digital job board at CMTN. Job Summary:

Adult Mental Health and Substance Abuse Complex Care Worker is responsible for working in collaboration with program clinical partner(s) to deliver twenty-four (24) hour services to adults who may experience one or more of the following: long-term homelessness, has been unable to maintain housing, substance use, brain injury, mental health disorders, justice involvement, and/or street entrenchment.

Skills & Abilities:

A working knowledge of various mental health disorders, brain injuries, homelessness, and substance use
Knowledge, appreciation, awareness, and sensitivity of Indigenous history and culture.
A thorough knowledge of the complexities of working with diverse populations.
Has an awareness of own attitudes, beliefs, biases, and assumptions about others.
Ability to recognize and manage one’s own behaviors, moods, and impulses to create an inclusive, equitable and welcoming environment.
Ability to tolerate stress and deal with a wide range of medical, mental health, behavioral and emotional challenges, and barriers.
Ability to work in independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills when working independently and during a crisis.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with both clients and colleagues
Key Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with the clinical team to assess, develop and implement clinical treatment plans and safety plans.
Engaging participants using in a trauma informed, person centered approach to support emotional, social, physical, and mental health growth and stability through individual interactions and skill building, facilitation of group activities and meetings, conflict mediation and crisis intervention.
Work in collaboration with the clinical team to work within a harm reduction model of care for participants which includes providing support and skill building for safe use and community survival skills.
Assist participants with personal care, which may include person(s) with diverse abilities, personal care associated with substance use, mental health, and long-term homelessness.
Respond to sudden changes and sometimes volatile behaviors that may be a result of mental health or substances use, using non-violent crisis intervention and trauma informed de-escalation strategies. This may also include overdoes responses.
Administer, store, and dispose medication; support participants to make and attend appoint which may include transportation; provide one to one life skills support and training.
Facilitate group activities, house meetings, and life skills groups
Work closely with the neighbors and community to ensure a positive experience for both participants and the community. This will include implementing boundaries with participants and their networks using a preventative, harm reduction and trauma informed approach arising situations.
Ensure smooth operations of the home by performing operational duties including but not limited to house keeping, shopping, inventory, minor house repairs and general overall maintenance.
Provide orientation, supervision, work direction, and feedback to volunteers and practicum students.
Complete all required client and organizational documentation clearly, concisely and factually.
Qualifications:

Diploma in Addictions, Mental Health, Social Services or Human Services
Two (2) years recent related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Goals, Growth and Development:
Our organization’s goal is to support and develop relationships with communities throughout the province of BC. In Kamloops, we currently operate 40 staffed resources and have approximately 200 employees. We currently operate resources in Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, Merritt, Prince Rupert, and Terrace with further plans to expand throughout the Province. Junior Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accountant with strong analytical, communication and numerical skills to assist with driving our organization’s financial operations and improve our financial team performance. Duties of the junior accountant will include supporting accounting staff and working with our CFO, overseeing internal controls, reviewing financial targets, implementing, and following financial strategies, developing efficiencies into existing systems, engaging with funders, conducting financial audits, working with organizational departments, monitoring cash flow and reporting to CFO. Your skills in sound financial planning coupled with your ability to direct and support the financial department will help our organization implement effective financial strategies, manage debt, improve revenue streams, and forecast financial planning strategies.
