As the winter season begins, we are sharing our winter letter as a way to extend our thanks to our community members. Winter is a time for reflection, rest, and coming together, and we recognize the importance of caring for one another during this season.

Please note that the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council office will be closed for the winter break, with our last day of operations on December 19. We will reopen and resume regular office hours on January 5.

Weytk,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of David Anthony Nordquist, a valued and loved member of our community. David’s presence touched many—through his kindness, his stories, and the deep connections he carried with him. His loss is felt across our families, our friendships, and our Nation.

We will be gathering to honor David’s life and support his loved ones during this difficult time. Details for his wake service are as follows:

Date: Friday November 21, 2025
Time: 6pm
Location: ALRCC (ALIB Gym) Adams Lake Indian Band IR #4
6349 Chief Jules Drive, Chase B.C.

All community members are welcome to attend as we come together in strength, love, and respect to celebrate David’s journey and spirit.
David will be remembered for his generosity and the way he always offered a warm word or helping hand.
May we carry those memories forward and uplift one another as we grieve his loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s family and all those who mourn him.

Today, our team came together in our orange shirts to honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day is a time to reflect on the painful history and lasting impacts of residential schools, to listen to Survivors, and to stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities. By wearing orange, we remember the children who never returned home and commit ourselves to reconciliation through awareness, respect, and action.
