On Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day, we honour the children who never returned home from Residential Schools and stand with the Indigenous communities who continue to carry the deep weight of that history.
On this reconciliations day, we want to look inward and forward and acknowledge the mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds left behind by systemic injustice. And commit to healing.
The residential school system tried to erase culture, identity, language, and the very essence of community. These experiences have contributed to intergenerational trauma, disproportionately affecting Indigenous Peoples’ mental health to this day.
On this day, we reflect and ask:
🧡 Are we listening deeply to Indigenous voices and stories, even when they are hard to hear?
🧡 Are we advocating for mental health care that honours Indigenous ways of knowing and healing?
Today, find a moment to connect with Indigenous communities around you whether thats supporting Indigenous-led businesses, attending cultural events, or advocating for equity. Consider how you can deepen connection and take meaningful steps forward.
