A little more reading in regards to how the change in climate is affecting our forests here in BC. Fuel Break Industries is working towards the long term, active approach to save properties and communities, while reducing the carbon footprint caused by burning. If these sound like issues that are important to you, please like our page and follow us. We will continue to post relevant material, and engage with government and stakeholders, as well as private landowners, to actively pursue a long term solution to the wildfire problem that is not going to go away.

For decades, scientists have predicted that B.C. would experience longer, more intense wildfire seasons as the climate warms. But the destruction of the last two years is still a bit surprising.

Fuel Break Industries is working towards providing low-to-no cost Fuel Treatment, or forest fuel load reduction, to private land owners throughout the Kootenays. Fuel Break is a company focused on offering Forest Fuel-Load reduction services for public and private land. Our focus is using the harvested resources to offset the cost of the fuel treatment, by delivering an undersized, non-merch timber product to market. Whether the product is Fiber, Saw logs, Fire wood, Hog Fuel or fence posts, it is still utilizing a resource that has traditionally been burned, requiring hundreds if not thousands of man hours per hectare. As much as there is an economic sustainability aspect to it, there is also an environmental stewardship aspect to Fuel Break. We are not interested in going onto someone’s property to strip their land for big profit. We are interested in having a Registered Forest Professional prepare a written Fuel Treatment prescription that suits the property, the land, the water, and the wildlife, that will create a fuel break to protect assets, property, watersheds, and communities, against the possibility of Wildfire.
