The number 1 series on Netflix right now is American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden. There is a scene at 3:20 of the final episode where they show the procession for one of the fallen CIA operatives who was killed while hunting Bin Laden. Our Funeral Ark is being used. Built right here in Lindsay, Ontario by Northern Casket / North Urn.

Northern Casket sadly announced the passing of a great friend, colleague, and family man Linden Mackey. He was a pillar to our community committed to helping others in their time of need his entire life. He was caring, kind, professional and approachable and always willing to lend his knowledge, experience and most of all his time. He will be sadly missed by all of us and Northern Casket sends their heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and colleagues at this time. Rest in Peace

Today, we mourn the loss of an extraordinary family man, dedicated businessman, and cherished member of our community. Linden was the heart and soul of our business, carrying forward the legacy of his father and grandfather with humility, grace, and pride. He never sought the spotlight—his kindness spoke for itself. Linden was generous to a fault, always putting others before himself.

As a community, we grieve the loss of a beloved friend, mentor, and leader. Linden’s absence will be deeply felt, but his impact will live on. Let us honour his memory by reflecting on all he has given to this community and the lives he touched along the way.

BUYING CANADIAN FOR YOUR FINAL FAREWELL! PLEASE SHARE!

We at Northern Casket have never attempted to influence or endorse our products to families directly. That said, this is not an endorsement but moreover an education post that we hope will enlighten and inform you of your consumer rights when working with a Funeral Service provider. Considering recent developments with respect to potential tariffs, Canadians according to recent surveys have overwhelmingly adopted a “Buy Canadian” attitude to counteract the negative impacts of a potential Canada US trade war. Most people, when having to make funeral arrangements for a loved one seldom inquire as to the country of origin of the products they are selecting. Understandably, it’s an emotional time and product patriotism is not top of mind. This is unfortunate. In hindsight many of these families would have welcomed the opportunity to have provided their dearly departed as their last purchase a “Made in Canada” product. We are based in beautiful Lindsay, Ontario and are approaching our 100th year Anniversary since inception. We are the last remaining premium Casket manufacturer in Ontario. There are two other mass producers of premium caskets that offer similar products available to Funeral Service providers. One is an American company that outsources much of their manufacturing to Mexico. The other is a Quebec-based manufacturer that has established and increased much of their production within a facility based in the US. Many Funeral Homes have contractual obligations to deal exclusively with one of these two vendors and that is fine. We do not begrudge businesses for doing their due diligence and assessing what vendors provide what they feel is the best casket vendor option. With that said, if a family’s intention is to “Buy Canadian” Funeral providers must honour that request. Funeral Homes are provincially legislated to provide to consumers whatever casket or urn that is requested, regardless of manufacturer or contractual obligation. If they decline to do so, please know that Northern Casket has many Funeral Home partners that welcome the opportunity to serve you while providing a “Made in Ontario” product. You are welcome to reach out to us directly to obtain the name or names of the highly reputable Funeral Service providers we work with on a consistent basis. To those Funeral Service providers that have and continue to work with Northern Casket, Thank you. To those families who have entrusted Northern Casket in providing a Made in Canada casket, cremation container or urn, Thank You!
