Tales from a Path with Heart #2
The Golden Liquid
I was in Peru at Mayantuyacu, probably in 2015 or 16. I was in the Maloka and there were a few of us tourists. This young man (child of an Ayahuasquero), probably about 10 or 12, was playing with another boy a few years younger than himself. The younger boy was running in the Maloka and the older boy was chasing him.
The older boy, being taller than the young boy, ran head-first into a ledge that held candles. He hit just above his eye and he bled what looked like a litre of blood on the floor. To me it looked like he needed stitches.
The older boy was silent, he didn't cry, just quiet as he bled. Many of us tourists ran to the Maestro's place. Maestro came to the Maloka, checked the boy, walked back to his office to get supplies. When he arrived back to the quiet boy, he had a piece of gauze and a small bottle of golden liquid. He put the liquid on the gauze and put it on the wound. It stopped bleeding immediately. I was amazed, it was like magic to me.
I asked what the Golden liquid was and was told it was Copa Iba.
Copa iba can be used for wounds but also as a bug repellent and various other things.
I took the lesson about relaxing and being calm in stressful situations, it helps us to better cope. When you visit Maestro and take the teachers medicine, everyone is a student.
This, in part, is how I learn Medicine.
