Keeping your muscles healthy (well hydrated, free of fibrosity and hypertonicity),strong, and flexible allows for functional movement patterns and proper posture during all activities.
Massage is a great addition to regular exercise and stretching to help keep hard working muscles in good condition and prevent injuries.
I love to geek out about what muscles to stretch and what to strengthen to improve your posture and function, and relieve pain.
If you have questions I’m always up for a free consultation to assess your specific issues, just send me a message.

SOS 30 DAY SELF-CARE JOURNEY FOR TOMORROW
Thursday April 29th

DECLUTTER

"A place for everything and everything in its place"
Benjamin Franklin

In our consumer society, most of us accumulate too much. Often we hold on to things that we don't need or use, causing cutter and mess in our homes. Clutter can feel chaotic and overwhelming. Spring is the perfect time to purge unused "stuff" that creates mess and stress.

Benefits of decluttering

♻️Gain back time spent searching for things ♻️Rediscover "lost" items
♻️Reduce dust and allergens ♻️Stress relief
♻️Sense of accomplishment ♻️Opportunity to donate
♻️Creates serenity

Decluttering is obviously good for us. But deciding what to keep and what to do with all your stuff can be challenging.

Did you know that parting with items to which we are attached stimulates the same centers in the brain as those associated with physical pain? Some things are obvious and easy to deal with, for the more difficult decision try asking these QUESTIONS:

1. When did I last use the item?

If longer than a year, donate, recycle or dispose.

2. Is it an heirloom, or does it have sentimental value?

Consider taking a picture to evoke nostalgia if you don't need the item itself. Make an photo album that can be more easily store and accessed.

3. Do I have duplicates?

Keep only what you need. It's difficult when we feel we might use it one day. Evaluate the probability of that eventuality, if it is highly unlikely, then get rid of it.

4. Does it work, is it expired or broken, stained or tattered?

Probably junk

5. Where does this belong?

Storage organization tip:
group like items together in totes,, take photos of the contents and affix prints to the outside so you don't have to rummage to locate infrequently used things.

Enjoy your more serene space!

GRATITUDE

Being grateful has many benefits

🙏Increases resilience during difficult times
🙏Boosts happiness
🙏Gives a sense of hope
🙏Creates connection when gratitude towards others is expressed
🙏Some theories suggest it may attract more of what you are grateful for

For today the task is to express gratitude to a person or people in your life. A simple text, email or phone call will do. Let them know how much they mean to you and why you are grateful for them.

"Gratitude unexpressed is like wrapping a present and not giving it"
William Arthur Ward

Who are you grateful for and why?

Reach out to your friends, family, co-workers, your kid's teacher, the nurse who gave you the covid shot, or whom ever.
It could be the highlight of their day and bring you joy also!

FOR TOMORROW Friday April 23rd

Comfort Food Friday

What is your comfort food go to?

I love gnocchi!

Mac and cheese?
Mashed potatoes,, pizza? Really anything that gives you a sense of home and connection and comfort will do.

Comfort food reminds us of social connection and brings us a sense of well-being.

Also it's no coincidence that most comfort food choices are high carb. Which kicks up the seratonin.

Self Facial Massage

Face massage is good for your skin, and for the muscles and joints of the face. Many people grind or clench their jaws, some have TMJ disorders. We all make facial expressions and chew, some get headaches and have sinus trouble.
Taking the time to massage your face can help ease the tension in the face muscles and joints, and relieve sinus pressure and headaches.

Please go to our highlights/story to find an instructional video for a face massage. It's only a couple of minutes long and I felt great after, hope you do too.

I used rosehip oil from . It has tons of vitamin C. Any cold pressed oil will do like olive oil or coconut oil.
Peppermint is great for headaches, but be careful not to get it in your eyes.

Let us know if you have any questions or if you have other areas you would like some self massage tips for.

Sound Bath

'A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND AND BODY.'
Sara Auster

Sound baths are my new favorite self- care jam!

This winter I was introduced to sound bathing and noticed the profound effect it had on mood and anxiety. After a sound bath I feel both grounded and energized. For me it is a bit invigorating for immediately before bed but others say it helps them sleep...

In March I had the pleasure of attending a sound bath .elements
with an amazing healer and musician .
Being in a group setting feeling the music live is the best, but there are all kinds of recorded sound baths in YouTube and Spotify. It's best listened to with headphones.

Check our highlights/story for a sound bath experience Megan has generously shared.

Recline, cozy up with blankets and pillows, why not burn your lovely candle. I hope you enjoy!

Let us know what you experience!

SOS 30 DAY SELF-CARE JOURNEY
For tomorrow Wednesday April 14

LISTEN

What is your favorite song?

Most of us listen to music daily, but we probably don't think of it as self-care.

Music is powerful stuff

A song can invoke nostalgia... change your mood...sweep you away.

When dementia patients listen to songs they know and like from their past, they are able to remember things that are associated with that song/time in there minds. It helps with their sense of identity.

I'm sure we can all attest to the ability of music to elicit memories. When I hear Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics, I am in the school gym, palms sweaty, half dying of shyness, half thinking I'm so mature, dacing with my junior high crush lol

Tell us your song memories

Not only does music help improve memory, it has been shown to reduce pain perception, increase dopamine and reduce cortisol. That sounds like good self-care!!

We have created a playlist for today's post that is intended to inspire and motivate. It is upbeat and energizing, best listened to in the morning, or when you need a pick me up.(it's a great running companion)
Please find the Spotify link in our bio.

🎶Enjoy🎶
