🚫 Therapy Myths That Might Be Holding You Back

If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe I should try therapy…” but immediately followed it up with a reason not to, you’re not alone. The problem? A lot of what we think we know about therapy isn’t actually true.

Here are some common myths that might be keeping you from getting the support you deserve:

❌ “Therapy is only for people who have it really bad.”
💡 Truth: Therapy isn’t just for crisis—it’s for self-growth, stress, anxiety, trauma healing, and building a life you actually enjoy.

❌ “Talking about my problems won’t change anything.”
💡 Truth: Therapy isn’t just venting—it’s about rewiring patterns, understanding yourself, and learning actual tools to create change.

❌ “If I just try harder, I can figure this out on my own.”
💡 Truth: Struggling alone doesn’t make you stronger. Having support helps you heal faster and deeper.

❌ “What if my therapist judges me?”
💡 Truth: A good therapist creates a space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted—without judgment.

💛 World Su***de Prevention Day – You Are Not Alone 💛
Su***de is a difficult topic to talk about, but the truth is—it’s far too common and needs to be part of the conversation. You are not alone, and your feelings are not too much.

At Another Chapter Counselling, we want you to know:
💛 You are welcome to talk about suicidal thoughts in therapy. It is a safe, nonjudgmental space to process overwhelming emotions.
💛 Struggling doesn’t mean you’re broken. Many people experience thoughts of su***de, especially during moments of deep pain or exhaustion.
💛 Support exists. You don’t have to go through this alone—there are people who care and want to help.
💛 There is hope. Even when it feels impossible, healing and relief are possible with time, support, and the right tools.

🌀 Symptoms of Survival Mode—Is Your Nervous System Stuck in Overdrive?

Ever feel like you’re running on autopilot, constantly on edge, or just barely getting through the day? That might not be “just stress”—it could be survival mode.

When your nervous system gets stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, it can show up as:

🔥 Fight: Easily irritated, snapping at loved ones, feeling constantly defensive.
🏃‍♀️ Flight: Restless, always staying busy, avoiding stillness.
❄️ Freeze: Feeling numb, zoning out, procrastinating on everything.
🤝 Fawn/Appease: People-pleasing, struggling to say no, ignoring your own needs.

Here’s the thing—this isn’t your fault. Your body is doing its best to keep you safe. But long-term survival mode? It’s exhausting. The good news? You don’t have to stay stuck here.
