Red Flag Rehab Group Therapy!

8 Weeks of Healing, Connection, and Rebuilding Self-Trust

If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “Why do I keep ending up here?” — in relationships full of chaos, over-giving, or repeating the same painful patterns — this group is for you.

Based on Rebecca Rafuse’s upcoming book Red Flag Rehab, this 8-week group therapy program blends storytelling, trauma-informed psychoeducation, and practical tools to help you:
✨ Understand why chaos has felt like chemistry
✨ Break free from people-pleasing, fixing, or fawning patterns
✨ Learn to spot subtle red flags in love, friendships, and family
✨ Practice boundaries without guilt or shame
✨ Rewire your nervous system so safety feels safe again
✨ Build the courage to choose green flags (and believe you deserve them)

Each 90-minute session includes grounding exercises, group discussion, and take-home reflections. Together, we’ll laugh, grieve, share, and heal — because recovery doesn’t happen in isolation.

Program Details
• Start date: Wednesday October 29th
• Format: Small group (6–10 participants)
• Facilitator: Rebecca Rafuse, Registered Psychotherapist

Investment (covered under some benefit plans)
• Full Program: $480 CAD (=$60 per session)

Why Join?

In therapy, we often hear about the importance of forgiveness for our own well-being. Holding onto grudges can weigh us down, but when it comes to betrayal trauma, the narrative shifts.

It's crucial to understand that closure may not come in the form of forgiveness. Sometimes, it’s perfectly okay to acknowledge that you may never forgive the act of betrayal itself.

Think of it like footprints in the sand, gradually washed away by the waves. With time, you will move through this pain and grow from it. Each wave represents healing, cleansing you of those hurtful moments.

Take a moment for yourself—place your hand on your heart and affirm: "I am here, and I won’t leave you." Embrace your journey and recognize that healing is not about forgetting; it’s about honoring your experience and allowing yourself to grow.

PRIDE Month, in honour of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, is about protest, activism, a call to action + actual action, education - learning + unlearning, resistance + response, understanding q***r history - the struggles, progress + recent years of increased hatred + bigotry, and recognizing q***r contributions to society. ❤️

YOU are NOT an ally or a safe person, service, business, online group, etc. if YOU remain silent, inactive, support bigots, promote hate or silence, or do not actively use specific "inclusive" language. Inclusion is an ACTION!

Every June we also celebrate PRIDE Month to honour the courage, resilience, and humanity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

As PRIDE flags rise, let them rise with our voices, our solidarity, and our shared values of respect for differences, authenticity, safety for all, freedom, love, joy, kindness and unity. All humans matter! ❤️

NOW is the time to uplift voices, promote inclusivity, and advocate for acceptance and human rights! ❤️

Each time this happens, our hearts feel broken.

Our thoughts are with Brenda Rus, her loved ones and the community grieving her death in Barrhaven over the weekend.

Ottawa Police have identified her death has a femicide, defined as the killing of women and girls because of their gender, often driven by stereotyped gender roles, discrimination against women and girls, or unequal power relations between women and men.

It is normal to feel impacted by the news of a femicide in our community. Please reach out for support if you need it – The Distress Centre of Ottawa is available 24/7 at 613-238-3311.

Blood Moon - Lunar Eclipse ❤️🌕❤️

Six years ago, my life had come crashing down. In just a few months, I lost everything that seemed important to me—my home, my partner, friendships, family, my community, and even a sense of who I was. The betrayal from those I loved most left me feeling utterly alone, and it was a painful journey through loss and confusion.

For two long years, and during a pandemic, I tried to rebuild my life on the same shaky ground that had just crumbled beneath me. Angry and heartbroken, realizing how I was trying to do things wasn’t going to work, I made the tough decision to go into a year of isolation—a shadow period, if you will. I cut contact with many people and embarked on a journey of self-discovery.

During that year, I learned the art of unbecoming, discovering all the things that were rooted in 40 years of conditioning, external expectation and validation. I had to reconnect with my heart, body, and soul—parts of myself that had been conditioned out of me since childhood. It was challenging, but liberating. It felt a lot like the moon during a lunar eclipse, slowly slipping into darkness. I had to embrace my own shadow to emerge anew.

Through it all, one constant remained: the moon. Each night, I would look up and find comfort in its presence. The moon became my steadfast companion, illuminating my darkest moments and reminding me that even in shadow, there is beauty and healing.

Slowly but surely, my inner light began to return. This time, she was different—stronger, brighter, and more resilient. It mirrored the experience of a lunar eclipse: after the darkness, the moon re-emerges, bold and unshakeable. I found strength in this cycle, understanding that darkness is not an end but a necessary part of the journey toward renewal.

In a world where trust felt scarce, the moon was always there for me. It reminded me that I wasn’t truly alone, offering solace and connection as I navigated the complexities of my emotions.

So, as I share this, I want to remind you that much like the lunar eclipse, our journeys can be transformative. They can take us through darkness to emerge stronger and more radiant. Life’s challenges will come and go, but with each eclipse, we can remember that light will always return. My light returned (most of you have witnessed that!), and sitting here watching the eclipse brings up such a sense of pride within my heart!

Embrace your journey, trust your inner voice, and honor the resilience within you. Just like the moon, you have the power to shine—bold and unshakeable—no matter what.

I hope you can find your own light in times of darkness, just as I did. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey.

PS. There are four eclipses in 2025, you can expect big transformation this year!

🌦️ **ARE YOU FEELING IT⁉️** 🌦️

If you're experiencing sinus pressure, aches, headaches, or general discomfort, you might not be alone! Sharp drops in barometric pressure are rolling in from the Midwest to the Great Lakes, and these rapid changes can significantly impact our bodies and minds.

Research shows that individuals with ADHD and autism often face unique challenges during barometric pressure drops. Here’s how these changes can manifest:

**Somatic Symptoms:** Rapid fluctuations in atmospheric pressure can exacerbate physical symptoms such as headaches, joint pain, and fatigue. Studies indicate that individuals with ADHD may experience heightened sensitivity to these changes, leading to increased discomfort.

**Low Motivation and Fatigue:** Changes in pressure can lead to a dip in energy levels, making it difficult to stay motivated or focused on tasks. This is particularly challenging for those with ADHD, as they may already struggle with maintaining attention.

**Mood Instability:** The stress of physical discomfort coupled with weather changes may lead to mood swings, irritability, and increased anxiety, common challenges for those on the autism spectrum.

To help cope with these challenges, here are some tips:

**Stay Hydrated:** Drink plenty of water to help alleviate headaches and fatigue.

**Establish a Routine:** Try to maintain a consistent daily routine, which can provide a sense of stability during unpredictable weather changes.

**Practice Mindfulness:** Engage in mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to help manage anxiety and improve focus.

**Get Moving:** Gentle physical activity, like walking or stretching, can help reduce physical tension and boost your mood.

**Create a Comfortable Environment:** Adjust your surroundings to minimize sensory overload, such as using soft lighting or noise-canceling headphones.

The upcoming pressure changes are expected to result in a drop of 30 to 40 millibars in less than 48 hours, as shown in the map of barometric pressure anomalies.

Stay tuned to your body, and remember to prioritize self-care during this transition!

How are you feeling with the changing weather? 👇💬
