Do you have PMDD?
(If you’re not sure, It’s basically PMS BUT WAY WORSE can start way earlier in your cycle.)

Well if you didn’t know, it’s recognized by the DSM as a mental health condition and without proper management it can wreak havoc on women’s lives and relationships.

One of the biggest barriers is diagnosis.

Luckily there is a well recognized self-diagnostic tool called Me v PMDD which is a FREE APP. You track symptoms everyday for two months and then discuss results with your mental and physical health provider (e.g. therapist and doctor).

There’s no cure to PMDD but there are ways to manage it. Just make sure your doctor and therapist are up to date on the management research.

Question- how educated do you feel about PMDD? Are you clear if you have it or don’t?

How I went from PANIC to ZEN when cold plunging in 1-7 degree water

Plunge #1: I went to an event hosted by When you see 20 people plunge before you, it seems less scary. It was colder than expected I basically pushed through, mad shivering, and I was desperate the first 30 seconds. Once I reached one minute I knew I could reach 2 minutes.

Plunge # 2 was about a month later also at an event. I almost psyched myself out right before, expecting the same sense of torture. It wasn’t! I shivered a little but after the 30 seconds of fight/flight, I was able to talk and laugh. I stayed in 3 minutes. I could hardly believe it.

Then we bought our own portable cold plunge and I did it daily for now 27 days.

Temps ranged from 1-7 degrees and I stayed in 2-4 minutes, usually with head dunk at the end.

I noticed that by my 3rd plunge, my fight/flight response was much less, just a few deep breaths and I was good! I had noticeably enhanced my distress tolerance, in both the cold and in my life.
I had more energy and mental clarity that lasted most days.

I quickly learned that
- the benefits outweigh the discomfort
- the discomfort is actually minimal when you do it regularly and take out drama
- the biggest suffering comes from dread/anticipation so I stopped doing that
- thermal or wool socks make ALL the difference
- it massively reduced my PMS mood symptoms

Now I can relax into it after a the first bit and my senses go wild for nature 🙂

Changes my whole day- I love it!

Was this helpful or interesting to you? It’s kinda different from my other posts but I wanted to document/share just in case it’s helpful to you!

I see you hustling to have it all. And good for fricken you girl!

You’re a leader at work
You’re a leader at home
You even lead the growth and success of your relationships.

People come to you because they know they can count on you.

You say yes to a lot of things because you know you can!

But I know there’s also a part of you that wonders, who is supporting YOU?

But there’s a problem- asking for help feels darn near impossible because either you’re the best one for the job and/or you just don’t feel right being vulnerable.

Maybe it feels like everyone around you NEEDS you to be this way.

This is where therapy or coaching is the BEST first step. The more support you get, the greater capacity and sustainability you have for supporting others and you’ll also learn how to teach the people around you to support you too.

THIS will explain a lot.

When it comes to arguments, we each generally fall into one of two categories:

1. Pursuer
2. Withdrawer

If you’re a pursuer, you initiate the discussions in the first place. There is something to be resolved and you wanna make sure that happens. The pain of disconnect is far too great to avoid conflict in your opinion.

If you’re a withdrawer, you avoid conflict at all costs. And when you sense the threat of conflict, you’re more likely to go silent, shut down, or even leave the room. Conflict just isn’t worth the pain in your opinion.

Which are you more prone to- pursuing or withdrawing?

RESOLUTIONS OR NOT?
6 tips to set yourself powerfully in 2024

With all the noise about resolutions, I offer this advice from the perspective of a psychotherapist and mindset coach:

1. Acknowledge your wins and losses in 2023, including your feelings about all of it. Do this written or verbally (just not in your head) and let go of the judgement and let in self-compassion.

2. Get super duper clear on your VALUES before you even start to look at goals. This is the deep work people often skip but is absolutely essential.

3. Look at how you already fulfill your values

4. Look at how you prevent or sabotage your values; or perhaps what circumstances complicate it.

5. Now you can set some actions and/or smart goals ALIGNED with those values.

6. Schedule your actions as well as VALUE REVIEWS every month or quarter. Adjust your choices accordingly.

Consider that Trauma is not the bad thing that happened.

While it may be considered the traumatic incident, the TRAUMA is a present phenomenon- it’s the impact on thoughts, feelings, emotions, body sensations, nervous system and behaviour.
