🍀 OGHAM WISDOM – Elder (Ruís, R)...
🌿 In Irish tradition, the elder was the witch’s tree, its branches used for charms, wands, and warding.
🌙 Yet it was also a tree of warning—never to be cut without permission, for it housed powerful spirits of the Otherworld.
🔥 Ruís rules the dark moon and the turning toward Samhain, when what must end falls away so that what must rise may grow.
✨ Reflection for the Witch:
Ruís whispers: “Do not fear what fades—it clears the path for the next beginning.” It is the elder’s gift to guide us through endings with wisdom rather than sorrow.
✨ Tip:
Place a few elderberries or dried elderflowers on your altar at the dark moon. Whisper:
“Ruís, tree of deep release,
Endings come and bring me peace.”
Let go of what no longer serves before Samhain’s veil fully opens.
✨ Blessing of the Elder:
“By root of dark and berry red,
By dreams of those the world has shed,
By ending’s gift and wisdom’s hand,
Guide me through what time has planned.”
In The Ancient Irish Craft, we remember: Ruís is the elder’s voice—soft yet strong, closing one chapter so the next may rise with grace.
