When “Struggling” Is Defined by the Scoreboard

In a quick conversation with a young male he stated the reason he hasn’t approached me for mental health and mental performance is because he isn’t struggling.

He went on to explain that struggling is for people who have anxiety or depression, or for those who aren’t getting ice time, scoring goals or racking up points.

So, If the stats look good, then everything must be fine?

But when did struggling become something we only define by a scoreboard, a stat line, or a diagnosis?

When did it stop meaning not reaching your real potential?

Struggling isn’t always visible. Sometimes it looks like consistency without fulfillment. Sometimes it’s knowing there’s another level in you that isn’t being accessed yet. Sometimes it’s performing well, but feeling stuck, disconnected, or limited internally.

The real struggle isn’t having bad stats.
It’s settling for less than what you’re truly capable of becoming.
