Send a message to Kingston Athletic Therapy Centre:
Kingston Athletic Therapy Centre (KATC) was founded in 2008 by Certified Athletic Therapists Carla Brash and Jean Soleyn. They had a vision to introduce a unique form of physical therapy (Athletic Therapy) to the Kingston area. KATC grew quickly and in 2010 Carla and Jean were awarded the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.
Today KATC is a 4200 sq/ft multidisciplinary facility that houses 6 Certified Athletic Therapists, 2 Registered Massage Therapists, 1 Registered Kinesiologist, and 1 Certified Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach.
Our facility includes 6 treatment tables in our open concept clinic, 4 private treatment/ massage rooms, a 650 sq/ft private training studio, and Kingston’s only Whole Body Cryotherapy chamber. We offer a range of services from Athletic Therapy to Concussion Management and work with people of all ages and activity levels.
What makes Athletic Therapy different than others forms of physical therapy?
It finds and treats the root cause in order to reduce your risk of future injury
Athletic Therapy uses more manual therapy and less modalities (such as ultrasound, TENS, Laser or Light Therapy)
Athletic Therapy originated in a field setting with the goal of keeping athletes in their sport. Therefore, Athletic Therapy is focused on helping you “return to play, or for everyday”.
What makes Athletic Therapy at KATC so unique?
Our Athletic Therapists have additional certifications beyond the scope of Athletic Therapy (see Athletic Therapy Page). They are skilled at treating injuries like a traditional physical therapist as well as addressing persistent, chronic, or unique issues with complementary forms of manual therapy such as Cranial Sacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation
Our Therapists take a full body approach to treatment which includes a thorough patient history and assessment and not just an assessment of the injured area
Next door to the clinic is a 650 sq/ft private training studio offering 1on1 personal training, group fitness, and corrective exercise. This a great place to get stronger, leaner, and more resistant to injury. It also allows for easy collaboration with our therapists and trainer on corrective exercise plans
We have Kingston’s only Whole body Cryotherapy chamber! It’s amazing for recovery from exercise, regaining mobility post-op or post-injury, managing the symptoms of arthritis, and for reducing inflammation (see Whole Body Cryotherapy Page)
