It is during these journeys of care that the team can become close to patients and their loved ones, where it goes beyond โ€˜traditional careโ€™ into relationships formed out of deep respect, dignity, compassion, understanding and acceptance.

โ€œThe staff at the PCH Palliative Care Unit provided so much care and compassion to our loved one during his short stay and the final hours of his life. That care and compassion was also extended by the staff to myself and our children. ๐–๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ข๐ง ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ.โ€

For 28 years, the ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ organization has been a beacon of generosity, raising over $600,000 to support childrenโ€™s health programs at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) through University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF). ๐ŸŽ‰

That generosity has a powerful impact inside the ๐๐ž๐จ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ญ (NICU) at KHSC โ€” a place where some of our hospitalโ€™s most fragile patients receive specialized, lifesaving care. Funds raised help provide the equipment, training and resources NICU teams rely on every day. ๐Ÿผ

This past weekend, the group presented UHKF a cheque for $๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“,๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ to add to their incredible legacy of generosity to the NICU following the recent ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Š๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐‡๐จ๐œ๐ค๐ž๐ฒ ๐“๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ that took place from March 20-22, and we could not be more grateful! ๐Ÿ’

Over the years, Kids for Kids have had an estimated economic impact of over $2 million dollars in Kingston and have also raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our friends at the BGC South East, to help children in our community. ๐Ÿ‘ช

Recently, the ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐Ÿ team at Providence Care Hospital (PCH) were honoured, and their anonymous donor had the UHKF team read the following ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ค๐ฌ to this incredible team:

โ€œOn behalf of our family, we would like to give a heartfelt โ€˜thank youโ€™ for the exceptional care of the nurses at Heritage 2 who provided care to our family member. Our loved one regularly commented on the wonderful care they received while in PCH. For us, the family, your compassion, understanding and attentiveness were remarkable and invaluable to the last part of our journey. Your care made all the difference!โ€ ๐Ÿ’—

We are thrilled to celebrate Kingston Health Sciences Centreโ€™s remarkable milestone of completing 1,000 PET-CT scansโ€”achieving their first-year target more than a month early! This isnโ€™t just a numberโ€”itโ€™s a symbol of lives touched, stress eased, and care delivered closer to home. โค

This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our . The Government of Ontario funded the acquisition of the PET-CT scanner, while the cost of construction was supported by local donors.

Your support helped bring southeastern Ontarioโ€™s only PET-CT program to our community, sparing hundreds of patients from travelling to Ottawa or Toronto for critical imaging.
