The Lean Mile

The Lean Mile A working woman with too many hobbies, trying to get in shape amidst the chaos! If that sounds famil Hello! Don't get me wrong, I use them too!

I'll make this quick -- This is a fitness page for everyone that doesn't like being constantly inboxed about weight loss products and their amazing effects. But I can make you 3 promises:
1: I will NOT inbox you unless you ask for it.
2: I will NOT spam your newsfeed with testimonials from people I've never met.
3: And I will NOT beg you to buy a product. Here's what I WILL do:
- If I'm using one, and I plan to, I will post info about it here as well as my own progress, so you can see for yourself if it interests you.
- I will occasionally share this page on my personal account.
- I will chat with you if you need support in your own journey, or if you have any questions about anything I've tried.
- If I am selling a product, and I may, I will post links here, as well as my personal info for anyone interested.
- I will have a few success stories from people I know personally but probably not many, because they will ONLY be from people I know personally (lol)
- I will share workout tips that I have tried or want to try, maybe from Pinterest, maybe that I've made up, who knows. lol.
- I will share healthy and easy meals that I make, or plan to make :)
- I will share motivational photos -- some of which will make you laugh, some of which will boost your willpower, some of just me doing active things that make me happy, and some very unflattering progress photos D: (which I hope will become more flattering with time lol)
Note** I will be sharing my weight, inches, etc. This is a bold step for me, and I'd appreciate some sensitivity. If you'd like to follow me on my health and weight loss journey, I'm happy to have you! This page is a way of keeping myself accountable, motivating myself and hopefully others to get healthy (not simply "skinny"), and figuring out what products work! I'll tell you all about my HCG fail, too. :(

Hey all, thought I’d share a neat app I found with all kinds of yoga programs. It does have in app purchases but I’m really enjoying the free programs so far. Check it out, they’ve got beginner to advanced levels.

2nd run yesterday - 3.3 km with a bit of a hill to cross both ways. Chilly and a bit windy too but so worth it! It wasn’t too fun at the time lol but today I’m feeling great! I’ll be updating my progress soon, maybe tomorrow morning. Going into the daily yoga session in about an hour :)

As promised, I’m mixing up a fresh batch of the weight loss drink, and boiling eggs for my next few breakfasts. I am modifying my original drink recipe by adding a touch of honey (which I’ll melt in with hot water) in an attempt to make it taste less like wine vomit 😬🤢
And the recipe can be yours for the low, low price of 10 monthly payments of 19.99!
😂 just kidding, it’s in a past post. if you can’t find it inbox me.

These “ befores” are pretty fair... word of advice, when taking a before picture, as tempting as it is, don’t suck it in LOL. You’re defeating the purpose! 😂

So. Here’s the lowdown. I’m at about the same weight since my past posts, about 180lb give or take. My goal is to get down to around 160 or 150, but I’m more concerned about my overall health and strength, and I’d like a little muscle definition too so I’ll be tracking more than just what my scale says. I’ve been leading a daily yoga class (about 30 min sessions) for the past month and it is amazing. I want to do more though, so I’m going to start with my home-made health drink again, and starting tomorrow I’ll be doing at least a few runs per week. I’ll share some of my favourite yoga flows & positions, and my kms per run.

Here are my starting stats:

Weight: 180lb
Bust: 38”
Waist: 33”
Hip: 43”
Bicep: 12”
Thigh: 25”
Calf: 15.5”

And to be clear, I’m sharing this for two reasons:
1. So that YOU can help keep ME accountable for my progress! Having an audience helps keep me motivated - so TIA 😘
2. I want to show people that any starting point is okay and nothing to be ashamed of - what matters is that it’s a starting point! If you wrote a great book, would you be ashamed of the first page? Or would you be proud of the whole story? 🙂

Anyway, I’ll be sharing progress photos, and I’ll post a “starting point” photo in a bit, and I’ll have to eat those last words lol because I do hate posting full body photos haha but this is the beginning of my new journey, so it must be done! ☺️

Hello folks! I’m back on the fitness fitness train, (in case anyone is wondering 🤣) I will be updating what I’ve been doing shortly (and maybe a mid progress pic 😳).

Starting something new. My breakfast today is whole wheat toast with cheese and tomatoes, an apple, green tea, and the new thing is those little pink pills you see. They are raspberry ketones, you may have heard of them. These ones actually smell like raspberries lol makes them easier to take. And yes I'm out of my hard boiled eggs. And the health juice. I'll be whipping up fresh batches of both asap. FYI when I ran out of eggs, I ran out of energy but still lost a little weight. But when I ran out of the juice, weight loss came to a dead stop. 😮 I will post about the Ketones soon, with a pic of the bottle.

So, here's the health drink recipe I've been using:
- 4 cups Pure grapefruit juice (NOT "grapefruit cocktail". Look at the ingredients, it needs to just say "grapefruit juice. Very important.)
- 4 cups water
- 8 tbsp. of Apple cider vinegar (roughly 1 tbsp. per cup of water and grapefruit juice)
-1/3 cup pure organic cranberry juice

WARNING: It does NOT taste good lol. The apple cider vinegar sees to that. Also, if you have low blood pressure, like me, I'm no doctor but I wouldn't exceed the 1 cup per day, because grapefruit juice will actually lower your blood pressure further if you drink enough of it.

Benefits:
Grapefruit juice - Improved insulin resistance: This means it helps your body handle sugar properly.
- Lower blood pressure: If you have high blood pressure, this can be a plus. Also helps overall heart health.
- Antioxidants: Grapefruit has a variety of antioxidants, and is especially rich in the antioxidant Vitamin C, which fight the free radicals known to cause cancer.

Cranberry juice - Fights infections, especially UTIs
- Fights breast cancer
- Good source of calcium, which helps strengthen bones & teeth
- Contains organic acids that basically melt the fat deposits in our bodies

Water - Hydration, hydration, hydration!!!
- Also, consuming a large amount of water on an empty stomach is known to help flush out harmful toxins :)
- Also, about a million other things! Water is LIFE

Apple cider vinegar - Liver and lymphatic tonic, which detoxes your body, helps balance your body’s pH and stimulates cardiovascular stimulation, bowel motility and lymph drainage.
- Treats acid reflux/heartburn. It may seem like it would do the opposite, but I have had problems with too much acid since I was a teenager and like I said, since taking this mixture I've been feeling great!
- Contains natural probiotics that help to fight problems caused by too much yeast/candida
- Helps with weight loss in many different ways, like reducing sugar cravings and boosting metabolism

Alright! I've been meaning to post for a while now but lost some steam for a bit. I'm back at it! About 2 and a half weeks ago, I was at a weight of 188. My all time high. Time to do something! So I did. Here are my stats as of today. Height: 5'11". Weight: 182lb. BMI: 25.4 (on the higher end of the "normal" range). My target goal is 145lb. I have been down to 148 before, 6 years ago, thanks to a terrible diet (HCG. I do not recommend.) Like so many others, I gained it all back - plus about 20 pounds from my starting point :( So, 2 and a half weeks ago I decided to make some subtle changes. I heard about a healthy HOMEMADE morning drink. Not specifically a weight loss drink, just a healthy drink with detoxifying properties and some other good stuff. I'll break down how to make this drink and its benefits in my next post. First thing in the morning, before anything else, I down one glass of it. I also have a very bad habit of not eating breakfast, mainly because I'm in a hurry getting to work but also because I often don't feel well in the mornings. I decided to remedy this in a very simple, healthy way. I boiled a bunch of eggs, and each day I grab one and take it with me to work, and eat it for my morning break. This had two effects - 1: it gave me more energy during the day - eggs will do that :) and 2: it lessened my appetite! That came as a complete surprise. I now feel full with about half what I normally eat, sometimes less! And I stay feeling fuller, I'm much less inclined to snacking. For some this may not be helpful, but I have always had some trouble with overeating, so this is a HUGE help. So, within 10 days I had lost 8 pounds :D And while that seems awfully fast, I feel happy and healthy, and I'm not taking any supplements. Again, this is huge for me. I did gain 2 pounds in the next week but I am not worrying about it, I fluxuate a few pounds per day anyway, it goes up and down. I added one more thing to my routine yesterday - an app called "My net diary" recommended by a friend. Very nice diet & fitness tracking app, similar to My Fitness Pal. So far, so good!
