Covid vaccines have arrived at Kirkland Pharmacy. Currently, the vaccine is available for high risk individuals, including:
- over 65 years of age
- adult residents of congregate living centres
- any person who is moderately or severely immunocompromised
- any FN of any age (or person living with a FN person who is 55+)
- pregnant adults
- health care workers
- children between 6 months and 4 years of age
- persons with extensive contact with birds/mammals (e.g. vet, farmer)
Currently guidelines suggest 1 doses every 6 months for persons:
- 85 years or older
- moderately to severely immunocomprimised persons
- FN adults (or their household member(s)) 55 years and older
- 65 years or older with high risk comorbidies
Most other person(s) would be eligible to receive 1 dose per year.
Persons not meeting the above criteria would be eligible to receive a vaccine on or after Oct 27 2025.
IMPORTANT!! If you elect to not be vaccinated in the fall campaign (October to January) and you are not considered at "high risk", you will not be eligible for the spring vaccination campaign. This is different from previous years.
****Note that influenza vaccines have NOT yet arrived. They are expected within the next couple of week.
