Our friends from Knox Preston Presbyterian Church stopped by with a cheque as a donation to Lisaard House totaling $10,077! The church is amalgamating with St Andrews, and they wanted to give back to charitable organizations supporting the Cambridge community. We are so grateful for this gift - thank you all so much for thinking of us and our families! 🥰

Many people find it awkward to talk about death, loss, or grief. Grief is often misunderstood – by those who are experiencing it and by those trying to help.

Thursday, November 18 National Bereavement Day.

Everyone will face loss at some point, but few of us are prepared for how long grief can last, how deep it can feel, or how it changes our lives and the lives of the people we love.

When personal connection matters most, many who are grieving feel alone, misunderstood, and unsupported. Even well-meaning friends and family often struggle to provide comfort or guidance in the ways that are most helpful. On National Grief and Bereavement Day, support grief literacy in Canada.

Our friends at The Stoidi Group held their annual golf tournament recently, with Lisaard House as one of the many deserving charities to receive some of the funds they raised. This year, they donated $20,000 to help us in the important work we do in our community. Since 2022, this team has raised over $350,000, with every dollar going to back into our community - thank you so much! 😊

We recently welcomed Marsha & Nancy from the Waterloo Quilters Guild with some of the beautiful quilts they made for us! These quilts have so much meaning - they spark memories and story sharing, as well as provide cozy comfort for our residents.

Thank you so much for continuing to make sure our residents are snug, especially now that the weather is getting chillier. 🥰

We are grateful to the local Starbucks employees and The Starbucks Foundation who recognize the important work we do supporting our neighbours facing their final days.

This year, across the US and Canada, more than 56,000 nominations from Starbucks partners and alumni were submitted, and our hospice was one of 3,200 organizations selected to receive a Neighbourhood Grant. We couldn’t be more proud, especially as our staff and volunteers are true Starbucks fans! 🍵

Thank you for the nomination and the award – these funds will go a long way towards helping residents and families at a very difficult time in their lives.
