Did you know your milk can come in a variety of colours, and in some cases that colour can be influenced by your diet? Breastmilk can sometimes appear to have a greenish tint to it, or it can be very green, and typically speaking neither is a sign of an issue and both are safe to feed your baby.✅
Many parents report instances of green milk after consuming certain foods or beverages, and medical professionals have documented the link between a diet rich in leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale etc… and the green appearance of humanmilk. Some medications and supplements have also been linked to changes in the colour of breastmilk.
Remember that your milk is made from your blood, not the contents of your stomach. It's constantly changing and specifically tailored to meet your baby's nutrition needs, age, stage and situation. Most often changes in the colour of your milk are simply part of a normal variation. In fact, it's likely that unless you are pumping or hand expressing you won’t ever notice any variation at all. It's also important to note that green isn't the only colour that you might see if you're pumping or expressing - to learn more about all the colours visit TinyURL.com/TheMilkRainbow
